4-H Youth Earn Ribbons in Breeding Swine Show at Iowa State Fair

Erica Chapman of Tipton exhibited the Champion Purebred Gilt in the 4-H Breeding Swine Show judged August 12, at the 2013 Iowa State Fair. The gilt was first named Champion Berkshire Gilt.

The Champion Yorkshire Gilt exhibited by Drake Jehle of Durant won Reserve Champion Purebred Gilt honors.

Hartley Exhibitor Wins 4-H Breeding Beef Show at Iowa State Fair

Payton Vogel of Hartley exhibited a Hereford heifer to capture the Supreme Breeding Heifer banner in the 4-H Breeding Beef Show August 13, at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.

Ben Weis of McIntire won the Reserve Supreme Breeding Heifer banner with his Champion High Percent Maine-Anjou. Third Place Overall went to Noah Snedden of Grand Junction and his Champion Maintainer. Avery Bennett of Richland took Fourth Place Overall and Champion Shorthorn Plus honors. Chyann Smith of Storm Lake received Fifth Place Overall with a Champion Commercial Heifer.

Top Honors Awarded in Iowa State Fair's 4-H Market Beef Show

Maggie Ferguson of New Sharon captured the highly coveted Grand Champion Market Beef banner with her Champion Crossbred Division 2 steer in the 4-H Market Beef Show August 14 at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.

Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef honors went to Alex Alliger of Gowrie for his Champion Maine-Anjou.

Alexis Hanson of Gowrie exhibited a Champion Charolais steer which won the Third Place Overall banner. Fourth Place Overall went to the Champion Simmental steer exhibited by Taylor Duckett of New Liberty while Fifth Place Overall was earned by the Champion Chianina steer shown by Kennedy Core of Pleasantville.

The Champion Market Heifer was shown by Courtney Shalla of Kalona. Trace Ticknor of Bridgewater exhibited the Reserve Champion Market Heifer. The Third Place Overall Market Heifer was shown by Garrett Stalcup of Prescott.
