DAVENPORT, IOWA - Holiday shoppers and art aficionados alike won't want to miss Bereskin Fine Art Gallery's latest show, "All About Color -- Abstracts in Oil and Wax," featuring paintings by Iowa native Larry Jon Davis. The show will be on display from November 16 through December 10, with an artist's reception on November 25 and a class on December 3. All events are open to the public.
Davis is a graduate of the University of Iowa Fine Arts program and served as a full-time art professor at what is now Florida State College at Jacksonville from 1986 through 2010, during which time he also completed his master's degree. Eager to go back to full-time studio work upon his retirement, Davis relocated his studio to Knoxville, Illinois in 2012, where he was reunited with the Midwestern culture and landscape of his childhood. His work veers from the realistic to the abstract as he combines his expert figure drawing with complex color relationships. His work has been the centerpiece of many exhibits throughout the country.
"All About Color -- Abstracts in Oil and Wax" will be on display at Bereskin Fine Art Gallery from November 16 through December 10. The public is invited to attend an artist's reception on Friday, November 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In addition to the Final Friday event, the public is invited to view the artists' work during the gallery's regular operating hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the show, Davis will also be teaching a one-day seminar about abstract composition, color theory, and cold wax painting techniques at Bereskin Fine Art Gallery on Sunday, December 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will have the chance to explore alternative composition methods with oil and cold wax blends, brushes, and palette knives. The class fee is $125; a material list is available upon request.
Bereskin Fine Art Gallery is located at 225 E. 2nd St., Suites 102 and 104, Davenport, Iowa, 52801. For more information, contact owner Pat Bereskin at 563-508-4630, or visit the gallery's website at www.bereskinartgallery.com.
