(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA) – In light of the City of Cedar Rapids’ recent flood predictions, the African American Museum of Iowa will be closed for flood preparation 9/22/2016 through 9/24/2016.  Please visit our Facebook or Twitter for news on further closures.

The museum is currently in the process of moving and protecting our collection, exhibit, and loan items.

All education and outreach programs have been cancelled until 9/24/2016. Further cancellations will be announced at a later date.

Questions about the museum’s emergency preparedness progress should be directed to Deputy Director LaNisha Cassell. We are not soliciting volunteers at this time.

For more information on this or other programs, please visit the AAMI website at www.blackiowa.org or call 319-862-2101.  The AAMI is open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and is located at 55 12th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
