Larry Jon Davis Abstract Painting Seminar
In conjunction with the November/December 2016 exhibition of his work at Beréskin Gallery, a one day seminar will be offered on Saturday, December 3. The artist will demonstrate his approach to abstract composition, color theory, and use of cold wax painting techniques. We will see some of the unique textural and layering properties that the cold wax provides to traditional painting approaches. Participants will have the chance to explore alternative composition methods with oil/cold wax blends applied with brushes and palette knife to canvas or panel. Material list available upon request.

Shake it up; Shape it up
How do you, an up-and-coming artist get to the next level of art making? Do you want to make art in a new way, but don't know how? How do you avoid clichés and escape from ruts? How do you make art that's authentic and unique to you, your life, and ideas?
This is not a technical course but rather a discussion of methods for professionalizing and maturing your art practice. This course will offer a multitude of resources to help you achieve your art goals. There will be extensive handouts, critiques, visual presentations, guest speakers, etc. Grades 11 through professional.

Richard Luschek Illustration Seminar
Richard will discuss the art of visual storytelling, generating ideas, copying, and how to do put pen to paper. Discussion of the traditional tools to complete an assignment will be explored. Using a series of images, we will combine them into a new and unique creature. We will sketch out the ideas, and then complete a pen and ink illustration. If time, we will add color to the image with colored pencils or watercolor. Material list will be provided.

Boston School: A Still Life Seminar with Richard Luschek
Learn the greater art of "seeing" as practiced by the Boston School, and how it is applied to Painting Still Life. Students will bring a collection of their own still life objects and be directed to set up a powerful center of interest. Do a few sketches to check composition and then do a 'start' in oil on canvas. Enrolled students will receive suggestions for still life objects to bring, and an art supply list.
-Dates: Saturday, March 25 (1- 5:30 p.m.) & Sunday, March 26 (noon - 4:30 p.m.)
