Blue and Gold Hair Dye Fundraising Challenge Adds Fun and Funds to I Believe Campaign
Who: Iowa FFA Association and Iowa FFA Foundation
What: Black Tie Blue Jackets Gala to kick off National FFA Week (#FFAWeek) and raise funds for the Iowa FFA “I Believe: Investing in Future Leaders” campaign.
Building the FFA Enrichment Center required a $14.2 million investment. The campaign is to raise the remaining $5 million and provide resources for new leadership development and professional growth programs for Iowa youth to succeed in the agriculture industry.
Josh Remington, Iowa FFA Foundation executive director, and Tyler Bettin, Iowa FFA Foundation past-president and Iowa Pork Producers Association director of state public policy, will be sporting new hairdos at Saturday’s gala—which coincides with the start of National FFA Week, Feb. 20 – 27.  Remington and Bettin challenged the Iowa FFA Foundation board to achieve 100 percent participation in donating to the campaign; and if the goal was met, they would color their hair “FFA Blue and Gold” for the gala. Remington with “FFA Blue” hair, and Bettin with “FFA Gold” hair, will not only recognize board giving but also celebrate gifts from the agribusiness community to the campaign.
Items to be auctioned include a Wrigley Field rooftop ticket, hotel and flight package to a 2016 Chicago Cubs home game, and tickets, hotel and airfare to a 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

Co-emcees for the gala are FarmHer President Marji Guyler-Alaniz and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey. Other special guests will include Congressman David Young and a representative from Senator Joni Ernst’s office.
When: Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016
5 p.m. – Cocktail hour and silent auction
6 p.m. – Dinner, short program, live auction, live music and dancing
Where: Iowa FFA Enrichment Center, 1055 SW Prairie Trail Parkway, Ankeny, Iowa 50023
Why: FFA goes beyond traditional agricultural education to provide students with a strong background in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and turns ordinary students into extraordinary leaders for the agricultural industry. From fields and feedlots to factories and government agricultural agencies, FFA prepares Iowa youth to lead the world in feeding the earth’s 9 billion residents.
