June 1, 2016 – Rock Island, Illinois – Christian Care announced that they were awarded a $4,000 Rock Island Gaming grant to support their counseling and case management program for homeless individuals. This comes as Christian Care is celebrating an important birthday: 100 years of serving the Quad Cities community.

The organization, based in Rock Island, Illinois, continues to have a positive and instrumental effect on those it serves, including the community’s most vulnerable populations. Christian Care provides housing, counseling, resources, and services to the homeless and abused, veterans, those with mental health and/or substance abuse issues and those transitioning out of prison. In addition, Christian Care operates a community meal site that serves over 60,000 meals annually to anyone in need in the community.

The Rock Island Gaming grant will help fund a vital component of Christian Care’s services for homeless individuals. Counseling and case management form the cornerstone of Christian Care’s holistic program. These services are offered to each person who resides at Christian Care in addition to many other individuals who also need assistance.

Dr. Elaine Winter, CEO of Christian Care, is extremely appreciative of this funding partnership. "Funding for programs that serve the disadvantaged is more difficult to obtain each year as many nonprofits are vying for the same dollars. Christian Care remains grateful for funding partnerships that take notice of our programming and invest in our quality organization. This program is vital to ensuring those we serve are provided with the resources they need to regain their independence and to thrive within our community."
