Rock Island, Illinois (02/23/2016) – Christian Care announced today they will receive a $90,000 grant from the Hubbell-Waterman Foundation over three years for operational support for its shelter and organization. This comes as Christian Care is celebrating its 100th birthday of serving the Quad Cities community.
The organization, based in Rock Island, Illinois, continues to have a positive and instrumental effect on those it serves, including the community’s most vulnerable populations. Christian Care provides housing, counseling, resources, and services to homeless men in addition to women and children escaping situations of domestic violence. Further, Christian Care operates a community meal site serving over 60,000 meals annually to anyone in need in the community.
The grant from Hubbell-Waterman Foundation will dramatically impact the operational budget of the organization. As staff, programs, and budgets continue to be stretched exponentially while the cost of food and other operational costs continue to rise, general operational funds are vital to ensuring the organization will remain in the Quad Cities for another 100 years – or as long as the need for services persists. The grant comes at an appropriate time, as Christian Care is building its long-term operational fund in 2016 in celebration of its 100th year of operation.
Dr. Elaine Winter, CEO of Christian Care, is extremely enthusiastic about the grant. "We are always happy to partner with those who promote integrity and compassion to make the community a better place to live. Operational funds will allow us to keep our doors open at the level of service we presently provide the community. With a never-ending waiting list for both our shelter and rescue mission, every dollar goes a long way in this community."
Christian Care is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Rock Island, Illinois. The organization serves homeless men in addition to women and children escaping domestic violence situations. Christian Care provides counseling and case management services to these most vulnerable populations to provide them with tools and resources to regain and sustain their independence within our community.
