STEM Academy Supports Local Educators in Enhancing STEM Education, Inspiring Next Generation of Problem-Solvers, Innovators and Scientific Thinkers-

WHAT: On Wednesday, March 9, Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content for K-12 classrooms, and The Putnam Museum will host the Discovery Education STEM Academy, a no-cost professional development opportunity for local educators to explore STEM as it relates to their location.

During this immersive professional development experience, participating educators will explore best practices for implementing innovative STEM curricula that prepare students to be effective problem solvers and lifelong learners. During a series of interactive sessions, attendees will experience instructional strategies that promote STEM skill building, experience new digital tools and resources supporting STEM instruction, and prepare action steps for implementing STEM practices.  In addition, participants will examine data about future STEM opportunities in Iowa so they can build their own STEM strategy. The Academy will be led by a Discovery Education expert with extensive experience partnering with districts and schools to transform teaching and learning and create a culture of STEM.

Discovery Education is the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms and a division of Discovery Communications whose networks include Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel.
