Davenport, IA - The Village of East Davenport, locally known as the Village, is looking to enhance its historic luster. As a destination for tourists and locals year-round, the East Village Preservation society has a big mission for 2016.

The Village has seen a recent resurgence of new businesses come to fill empty buildings. Yet this is only the first step in their journey.

In their efforts to continue to beautify and develop the Village, the East Village Preservation Society, with support from Prag’madik Marketing, has applied for an Iowa Great Places Grant, to support and fund major enhancements. The grant, bestowed on historic and distinctive communities in Iowa, provides funds for vertical infrastructure and improvements to community assets.

To secure the grant, the East Village Preservation Society needs to raise matching funds from the community at large.

With support from the City of Davenport on creating a long-term vision for growth, the Village plans to leverage the opportunity to secure the grant award funding for:

1) Remodeling an existing structure for use as a Village Visitors Center, to provide historical information, walking tours and much more

2) Installation of way-finding signage to help visitors connect from key entry points, parking, the Mississippi river and downtown Davenport

3) Development and installation of interpretive signage, telling the historically significant story of Village

4) Installation of additional bike racks and benches throughout the 11th street and 12th street corridors to encourage activity and pedestrian traffic

To earn this grant, valued at $350,000, the East Village Preservation Society needs to raise MATCHING FUNDS!

The East Village Preservation Society is asking the friends, neighbors and supporting businesses of the Village to contribute to this important cause. With your help, the Village can raise enough money to continue the beautification and enhancement for years to come.
