Rock Island, IL: Rock Island Library patrons using the library's Freegal Music subscription have reason to celebrate. Rock Island Library patrons can now stream five hours of free music per cardholder, per day.

The change adds two extra daily hours of music for Rock Island patrons. Freegal® is a free music service from the library that offers both streaming and a weekly download allotment of three songs. Streaming is for temporary listening, while downloaded songs become part of the patron’s personal music library. To use Freegal Music, go to the Rock Island Library website and enter your Rock Island Library card number and PIN where indicated. The download counter and the streaming time remaining are at the top of the page once you login.

Freegal offers access to about 9 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists, and over 15,000 music videos. The collection is comprised of music from over 28,000 labels with music that originates in over 100 countries. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions. Access to Freegal is limited to patrons of subscribing libraries. Rock Island Library has subscribed to Freegal Music since May 2013.
