Rock Island, IL: Greg Dickinson, of Clinton, Iowa, is putting his college art experience and degree to good use with a pop art show at the Rock Island Library in March. Dickinson's art will be on display from March 2 to 31 at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street. The display, in the art gallery area on the second floor, will be available for viewing Monday through Saturday, during library hours.

The 56-year-old visual artist, muralist, and sign painter has been producing and exhibiting artwork in Sabula, Clinton, Quad Cities and Cedar Rapids since first producing murals in the early 1980s for Cedar Rapids' Mount Mercy College College (University.)

Dickinson enjoys depicting popular images in his paintings, from local news anchors, including Paula Sands and Marcia Lense, to popular consumer brands, such as Nabisco OREO® cookies and SnackWells ™ cookies. He's inspired by the pop art of the late Andy Warhol, including his celebrity portraits and commercial product images, such as iconic images of Marilyn Monroe and Campbell Soup cans. OREO is a registered trademark of Kraft Foods.

Some of Dickinson's cookie paintings were exhibited in the 1997 "Inspired by Nabisco" group show within the Nabisco Art Gallery, East Hanover, New Jersey. Dickinson's works have been featured in a 2015 group show at the Clinton Public Library, a December 2014 solo show at Rozz-Tox, Rock Island, and the 2013 "Art at the Crossroads" show at the River Arts Center, Clinton. He has also exhibited for MidCoast Fine Arts, Quad City Arts gallery, and at the 25th Annual Rock Island Fine Arts Exhibition at the Centennial Hall Arts Gallery, Rock Island, among many other locations. His works are present in the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce, Quad City Arts Sales Gallery, River Arts Center's Gift Shop in Rock Island, and studios of WQAD Newschannel 8. Examples of his mural work can be seen in Clinton.

The Sabula native graduated from Mount Mercy in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in art.
