Badder! Bigger! Bolder! Better than ever!
With soaring guitar riffs that pierce your ears and mind-blowing, decibel-bending death growls that perpetuate your darkest fears, the two-man death metal band known as Krotchripper is ready to take and shake Europe by storm.
Far from the norm, the master blasters of the brutal “Troll Grind” death metal genre are ready to rise and grind on the “Scumgrind for Life” tour. Spearheaded by the gruesome twosome of guitar/drum programmer Alex “Butt Rot” McFarland and vocalist Erik “Grimmgrimm” Aasgaard, Krotchripper will be performing 15 shows between February 25 and March 12.
Krotchripper, which started in Rock Island, Ill., in 2009, is taking its savage sounds overseas for the first time. The hard-hitting tandem will be opening first for the majority of the shows, if not all of them. Playing extensively and touring Europe comprehensively, McFarland and Aasgaard will only have one day off during the 15 gigs.
Krotchripper will be touring Europe on a double-decker bus with headliners Waco Jesus, Cliteater and the California-based group, A Threat to the Enemy. Waco Jesus, which also is from Illinois, currently is celebrating its 20-year anniversary. With a cult following, the venerable veterans have played Europe several times and are long-time favorites in the ardent metal community. Likewise, the Netherlands-based band Cliteater also are treasured by long-time metal community devotees.
“It’s very surreal. This is more than I dreamed was even possible for us when we first started out,” McFarland said. “I know that we’re not very well known, but the underground metal community is such a niche. We’ve found our place in it and look forward to making new friends, meeting friends we’ve made on the internet, and really just increasing our music’s exposure.”
Indeed, the upcoming European tour resoundingly represents a meteoric rise for the tenacious death metal duo. From humble origins, which included providing support for area acts at various shows, Krotchripper consistently has grown. The devilish duo now has performed with legendary bands such as Suffocation and Cattle Decapitation.

“I know that death metal is much more popular overseas, especially in Europe, than it is in the States,” Aasgaard said. “I hope they really dig our energy and get into the music.” McFarland echoes similar sentiments. “We’re looking forward to bringing our flavor of death metal to Europe. We hope it goes well!”
