What makes a good business partner? For many, it includes helping the local economy grow, creating strong business relationships with community leaders, and helping those in need through non-profit and volunteerism.

One of our very own businesses in Davenport has been doing just that … for 20 years.

Expert Global Solutions (EGS) has been known by different business names over the last 20 years, but their positive impact on the local community has been consistent throughout.

As one of the area’s largest employers, EGS provides careers to 850 people at 250 East 90th Street in Davenport. Due to anticipated business growth, they intend to hire approximately 300 more throughout the rest of the year. The company, which is a global customer service organization with revenues of more than $1.1B, employs 40,000 across the globe.

But it’s the local careers and the opportunity for growth that matters most to local residents and community leaders.

“We provide a variety of career opportunities here at EGS, from entry-level customer service agents to more experienced Operations Managers, Trainers and Recruiters,” said EGS Site Director Tara Bartlett. “I started out as a Customer Service Representative on the phones and have grown with the company into the role I have today. I enjoy helping employees grow and develop so they can enjoy a long and successful career with EGS.”

EGS employee Cherie Wyatt is an example of one of those employees. “I’ve been with the company for 16 years and know this is the job I’ll retire from,” she said. “EGS is an extended family with people who support one another. The friendly environment makes you want to come to work each day.”

The positive economic impact of providing careers to more than 800 people trickles down in many ways. One employee with a local career, for instance, now decides to stay in the community instead of moving away for another job. That employee is now able to purchase services from other local businesses – restaurants, movie theaters, phone providers, etc. And as that employee’s career grows, they look for larger purchases like a car or a home. Perhaps they start a family and plant more roots here. But, it all starts from the job opportunities the local businesses provide.

In addition to offering jobs, a company’s willingness to form partnerships in the community is also important. EGS works closely with community leaders and other businesses in the area, like River Bend Transit, who helps provide transportation services to EGS employees to get to work every day.

But, EGS – and their employees – partner with the community in other ways too, through their support of non-profits and local organizations.

“I am proud of the hard work we’ve done to build an incredible culture here in Davenport that emphasizes the importance of teamwork, having fun in the workplace and have put a large focus on giving back to the Quad City community,” said Human Resources Manager Sonia Johnson. “Our employees are proud to give back to our local non-profit organizations that provide the services this community needs.” she added.

In truth, that aspect of helping and supporting is at the core of the company’s DNA as a customer service organization.

LaMoyne Morris, EGS Team Leader, agrees. “I like the fact that I can make a difference in someone’s life just by being that shoulder to lean on or helping someone gain new skills,” he said. “Joining the company four years ago was the best decision I have ever made.”

It seems that when EGS emerged in the Quad Cities community 20 years ago, it was a great decision in many ways.
