DAVENPORT, IOWA—918studio Press, a literary press in Davenport, has announced its selections for 2016 publication. Another Life, a short novel by Tom McKay of Hampton, Illinois, is about what happens when a very attractive girl who you had a crush on in high school comes back into your life as your son’s future mother-in-law. Breakfast at the Good Hope Home is a literary collage work by Mike Bayles, of Davenport, Iowa, and shows a son struggling with his father’s final stages of Alzheimer’s. Both books are planned to be released later this fall; updates can be found on www.918studiopress.com.

918studio press, a selective subsidized publishing company for good writing that deserves to be read, was formed after Robin Throne transferred 918studio to Lori Perkins’ Absolute Publishing Services and Perkins partnered with Jodie Toohey of Wordsy Woman Author Services. “Jodie and I complement each other in our skills and areas of expertise. It was a logical partnership,” Perkins said. The press plans another open reading period early next spring for 2017 publication. “I’m grateful to Lori for inviting me to join in this venture,” Toohey said. “As a 918studio author, I’m excited to continue the reputation of high quality writing that Robin Throne established.”
