DES MOINES, IA (01/14/2016)(readMedia)-- With the recent closing of the Longview Golf Centre in Urbandale, State Treasurer Michael L. Fitzgerald is pleased to be working with the former owners, George and Sue Frampton, to return unredeemed gift cards and certificates through the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt. "Prior to closing, Longview Golf Centre worked diligently with its customers and we appreciate their efforts," Fitzgerald said. "I am happy to get this money back to its loyal customers."
Upon closing, Longview Golf Centre reported the unclaimed funds to the state treasurer's office for safe-keeping until the rightful owners could be found. "We encourage all of our former customers with outstanding gift cards or certificates to claim them through the state treasurer's office," George Frampton said. "Since it is no longer an option to use the gift cards or certificates for a purchase, we really want our customers to receive the value of the certificate."
If you are holding a Longview Golf Centre gift card or certificate, contact the state treasurer's office at Foundit@iowa.gov or by phone at 515-281-5367. Please have the gift card/certificate number and dollar amount available and the office will mail you a claim form. For reimbursement, customers will need to complete the claim form and provide copies of identification along with the original card/certificate.
Since Fitzgerald started the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt in 1983, the program has returned over $205 million in unclaimed property to more than 482,000 individuals. Common examples of unclaimed property include money in forgotten savings and checking accounts, uncashed insurance benefit and payroll checks, lost stock and dividends, abandoned safe deposit box contents, utility refunds or deposits.
