Free and open to the public

In partnership with Dubuque Museum of Art, Gallery C presents a group exhibition curated by art expert Daniel Klein, who along with director of National Art Exhibitions of the Mentally Ill (NAEMI), Juan Martin, has curated a group show of 14 Cuban outsider artists, outsider because none of the artists have formal artistic training and most have some degree of mental impairment.  This exhibit comes to Dubuque from Miami and is considered "outsider art" due to the relationship between art and the artists who are outside and inside the system. The exhibit includes work from Adrián Horta, Boris Santamaría, Carlos Javier, García Huergo Damián, Valdés Dilla, Isaac Crespo Leonel, Fernández Ocampo, Luis Manuel Otero, Alcántara Misleidys, Castillo Roberto, Ofarrill Multan, Pedro Pablo Bacallao Perdomo, Andrián Ramón Pérez Strazhevich, and Martha Iris Pérez Santana.

Gallery C is pleased to host this Dubuque Museum of Art off-site exhibit at Gallery C and celebrate with an Opening Reception on Friday, June 24 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend and to participate in the Historic Millwork District’s innovative art scene. The reception is free and open to all ages. Refreshments will be served.

Join us for an exhibit gallery talk with Dubuque Museum of Art’s Director David Schmitz on Friday, July 1 at 6:30 pm at Gallery C as a part of our Friday Fridays programming.
