LAMONI, IA (11/02/2016)-- Rebecca Hoerres of Hillsdale, IL, has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women's volleyball.

"Becca had an amazing week. She passed eight times per set with no reception errors and an "off-the-charts" in digs per set," said head coach Stew McDole. "We have known all along what a quality platform Becca is. Now the rest of the Heart knows."

Rebecca earned the distinction after helping her team to a 1-1 record last week. GU holds a record of 15-15 on the year and 4-8 in the Heart.

Throughout the week, Hoerres combined for 54 assists to average nine digs/set on the week. She marked 25 digs in the three set sweep over William Penn. Later on in the week, she recorded a career high 29 digs in the three set loss to Evangel University.
