(Davenport, Iowa) In celebration of its 100th year in business, The Republic Companies of Davenport, Iowa, is partnering with the Salvation Army to “Give Warmth” this winter. Republic will give away up to 25 high efficiency YORK and Luxaire furnaces to homeowners in need in central Illinois, eastern Iowa and southern Wisconsin. The Salvation Army-Heartland District will help identify and screen candidates that can benefit from Republic’s “Give Warmth” program, and local dealers will donate the installations.
In recent years, Republic’s Give Warmth effort was centered on collecting gently used coats, having them professionally cleaned and working with local agencies to provide them to people in need.
To honor Republic’s 100th year in business, the company hopes to make an even more meaningful contribution to the community. Mark Kilmer, Republic’s current President and grandson-in-law of the company founder said, “Republic’s culture has always included giving back to the communities we serve. As we celebrate our 100th anniversary with our valued dealer network, we want to do something even more impactful.”
Local dealers in the Greater Quad Cities area are partnering with Republic and have volunteered the needed labor and materials for a Give Warmth furnace installation.
To be considered for a Give Warmth free furnace installation, candidate nominations must be submitted to The Salvation Army at 301 W 6th St , Davenport, IA 52803 or (givewarmth@usc.salvationarmy.
Nominations must include the following: Homeowner’s name and address, a photo of their current gas furnace (if possible), and a brief statement—no more than 300 words, please—describing their current situation and how a free furnace would benefit them. Only homeowners with gas forced air furnaces can be considered.
“Republic has served area heating contractors for generations and we believe paying it forward and partnering in our Give Warmth Campaign with The Salvation Army, local heating and air conditioning dealers and our equipment manufacturers YORK and Luxaire is a fitting way to celebrate this 100-year milestone,” said Kilmer.
