Residents surrounding the Church of Peace will come together Saturday afternooon, April 9, 2-4 pm, to discuss their concerns about their neighborhood.  Paul Fessler, Chair of CCC Board, will explain what the Community Caring Conference is and wants to do in Rock Island neighborhoods. After listing their concerns recorded during small group brainstorming sessions, participants will work to find priorities which could start the process toward finding solutions.  They will call upon participants to become block leaders and form active block clubs.  After two years without an Executive Director, many block clubs have been lost or inactive.

“CCC is needed and rebuilding it takes volunteers who want to improve their neighborhoods.  We have chosen a specific area to start this process, one block club at a time,” said Paul Fessler. “We urge residents to help us make ACTion a success.”

Board members and volunteers went door to door around the Church of Peace, Saturday, April 2,  1-4 pm, personally inviting 100 neighbors to come together to share their concerns about the area where they live.

At the general meeting of neighbors on April 9, three Hy Vee gift cards will be given away to participants at the conclusion of the meeting. Also, refreshments will be served. Childcare for children up to First grade will be available under licensed care workers.

The current Board of Directors includes:  Paul Fessler, Chairman; Lt. Rusty Hocker, Vice-Chair, Ethel Bassett, Secretary, and Jeff Barnes, Treasurer.  Additional members are Mattie Seward, Rev. Ken Kuenning, Vikki Blair, Rick Miers, Phil Dennis.  Pat Ward, former Director of the CCC, is helping advise the new Board. Five Board positions remain to be filled at this time.
