ANDALUSIA, Illinois, January 4, 2016—Dan McCanna, General Manager Snowstar Winter Park announces the status of the Lunar Lodge fire.
Due to a very unfortunate fire in the Galaxy Grille kitchen the upper level of the Lunar Lodge early this morning, we will be closed today. We hope and plan to be open for business as soon as we possibly can, possibly tomorrow morning. PLEASE be patient with us as we work through this setback and watch our web site and social media for updates and announcements once more is known.
It appears the fire ignited from an electrical shortage at an ice maker located in the rear of the Galaxy Grille kitchen at approximately 1:30 a.m.
“Our night time snow makers and groomers happened to be nearby working when they observed flames and luckily caught the fire in time to call the Andalusia Volunteer Fire Department who arrive and extinguish the flames quickly saving the structure,” said Dan McCanna, General Manager Snowstar. He thankfully said, “most importantly, no one was injured!”, “This is extremely frustrating since we just finished a major remodeling and branding of the business”, he said.
“Plus we finally opened this past weekend, the latest in recent history due Mother Nature throwing us a wrench with warm December temperatures”, Dan added alluding to the delay due to the unusually warm December weather. He continued saying, “even though this is a significant setback, we will NOT let this deter us from operating for the rest of the season”, “we plan to be open for business as soon as tomorrow and we’d ask our guests to be patient with us as we work through this unfortunate setback”.
