Dear Quad Cities STEM Educators:

I am conference chair of a one-day computer security conference being held in Davenport on Saturday, September 17, 2016. We call our conference CornCon, because it's a catchy name but our focus is cybersecurity, privacy and STEM education. This is our second year, and we have both an adult track and a kids "hacker camp". Our adult track may be suited for high school students through seasoned professionals in our local business community.

The kids camp involves electronics, cryptography, lock picking, and coding. There are contests and prizes. Lunch and snacks are provided, as well as a great t-shirt. The price is reasonable, and we are looking at quickly selling out our 50 tickets. (We are limited this year because we have limited space at St. Ambrose University where the event is held. Next year we plan to move to a larger venue and accommodate more kids!)

Our website is: http://www.corncon.net

What do I need from you? Well, you know the kids in our community and probably have already thought of some that would love this event. I'd love to have you attend as well. I have a deep discount code I will share with you as educators to use for yourself and your family only: CHI123.

Parents may use the code: STUDENT16 to register their kids at a discount.

I am also looking for someone to help with our coding activity. We have a clear lesson plan for the hour long class, but just lost a volunteer. Would you or someone you know be able to help?

We've also got a link in the virtual backpack for a couple school districts. Please contact me if you have any questions or wish to help!

Thanks and I hope we can work together to serve the community through this and other STEM activities!
