(CEDAR RAPIDS, IA) – In anticipation of the 2016 History Maker’s Gala the African American Museum of Iowa will be opening nominations for History Makers March 14, 2016. Nominations will close April 4, 2016.

The AAMI’s History Maker’s Award honors African American’s who, by their actions, have modified the course of history, imparting knowledge and impacting the communities in which they live.

Nomination forms can be downloaded at www.blackiowa.org and emailed to lcassell@blackiowa.org, or mailed to 55 12th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52401.

The History Makers Gala is the AAMI’s only fundraiser, raising thousands of dollars for educational programing in Cedar Rapids and across Iowa. Previous winners include:
