Davenport, IA: Quad Citians have donated a total of $781,000 through red kettles and through the mail and internet during the 2015 Red Kettle Campaign. $34,000 more is needed to reach the goal.
The $815,000 fund-raising goal accounts for approximately 60 percent of the Quad Cities Salvation Army’s operating budget. The funds will help The Salvation Army meet the demand for services for shelter, food, clothing and other basic human needs here in the Quad Cities. Major Gary Felton notes, “We are so close! I am sure that the giving spirit of those in the Quad Cities will help us close this gap and help us reach our goal.” Collection of money for the campaign has been extended until Jan. 31.
This year’s fundraising efforts are especially important due to the lack of state and government funding. With the loss of the HUD monies from the State of Iowa for our transitional program and no money being paid out from the State of Illinois, the importance of fundraising is even more important for The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities.
