Davenport, IA: Quad Citians have donated a total of $733,000 through red kettles and through the mail and internet during the 2015 Red Kettle Campaign. $82,000 more is needed to reach the goal.
The $815,000 fund-raising goal accounts for approximately 60 percent of the Quad Cities Salvation Army’s operating budget. The funds will help The Salvation Army meet the demand for services for shelter, food, clothing and other basic human needs here in the Quad Cities.
What do we do if we can’t make this money? Do we shut the doors to our shelter? Do we stop providing food, clothing and basic human needs to those in the Quad Cities? We do not want to have to make a decision about what programs to cut, but if we cannot make up this gap, this is what will have to happen. Major Felton reflects, “This is one of the largest gaps we have had in the past 6 years, however the community has always rallied around us in our time of need. This goal was aggressive for us, but I am cautiously optimistic we will make our goal.”
