WEST BRANCH, IOWA— Saturday, June 4 is National Trails Day. Trails and parks enthusiasts can help the National Park Service repair and reseed a prairie trail at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. Meet at the Visitor Center at 8:30 a.m. for an orientation and to get signed up. Work will be from 9:00 a.m. to about 12:00 p.m. Dress for the weather, and wear comfortable work clothes. Long pants and closed toe shoes are required. Bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, long sleeved shirt, and a snack. The park has work gloves and other required tools.
Last year the National Park Service launched its “Find Your Park” campaign which began a two year celebration commemorating its first 100 years of preservation and service to the public. “Find Your Park” is aimed at getting people out to experience all their national parks have to offer and to share their favorite stories about National Parks.
