MOLINE, Illinois – WQPT, Quad Cities PBS public affairs program “The Cities with Jim Mertens” has been focusing on the area’s elections through a series of programs dealing with the 71st Illinois Assembly race between Mayor Tony McCombie (R) and Rep. Mike Smiddy (D), the 72nd Illinois Assembly race between Brandi Maguire (R) and Michael Halpin (D), the Illinois 17th Congressional District race, and the Rock Island County sales tax increase proposals.

“The Cities Election Special” airs on WQPT on Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 pm, and Sunday, November 6 at 4:00 pm.  The two-hour special begins with an interview featuring U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos (D) and her challenger Patrick Harlan (R).  The Bustos/Harlan interview will also air on a number of different platforms in the Quad Cities, Peoria, and Rockford:

  • Sunday, November 6, 2 p.m. - WIFR-TV Justice TV 23.3 (Rockford)
  • Monday, November 7, 8:30 p.m. - WTVP WorldView 47.2 (Peoria)
