Donations based on football points and basketball three-pointers
The Score for Education program has wrapped up its second season, with Chris Elsberg State Farm Insurance and QCSportsNet.com donating a total of $1,095 to the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation. Every time the Rock Island High School football team scores, each point equals a onedollar donation. Every time a player on the Rocky boys or girls basketball team makes a three-point basket during QCSportsNet.com’s live play-by-play coverage, that equals a three-dollar donation.
In the inaugural 2016-17 season, the donation was $1,138, so the foundation has received a total of $2,233 through Score for Education. This season, the breakdown was:
Football: 246 points = $246
Boys Basketball: 152 three-pointers = $456
Girls Basketball: 131 three-pointers during the 16 games carried live on QCSportsNet.com = $393
Donations benefit students and teachers in the Rock Island-Milan School District, through scholarships and grants from the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (RIMEF.org). The foundation is the largest provider of scholarships to Rocky students, with more than $81,000 awarded to college-bound seniors in 2017. The foundation also awarded more than $90,000 in grants to teachers, to expand, enhance, and improve the classroom's academic environment.
QCSportsNet.com is the leading provider of high school sports play-by-play in the Quad Cities.
