DAVENPORT IA (January 31, 2019) — As the day gets underway, please be advised that Public Works has posted an update to the City website. Here are a few highlights:
Subzero temperatures are expected to last through the evening, and snow is also likely beginning around noon today, Thursday, January 31. Road conditions could be slick. An inch or more of snow is predicted to fall between 11AM and 11PM. Crews will respond by clearing Posted Snow Routes when the snow starts to fly.
CitiBus will continue running limited capacity service with vans and sedans through the afternoon. Please consider alternate transportation. Updates will be provided when service returns to normal. Use the Transloc Rider app or visit www.citidbus.com and use the system map for details.
Solid Waste collection will begin later in the morning due to early morning temperatures causing issues with diesel and hydraulics. Be reminded collection is one day late due to cancellation on Wednesday, and that bulky waste pickup has been cancelled for the week. Friday’s collection will occur on Saturday. Please know if a collection was missed due to the hour, snow challenges or temperature, crews are recording this information and will return the following day to catch your collection.
To help visitors and residents in the downtown keep vehicles out of the brutal cold and off the road, the parking ramps will remain free through Friday, February 1 at 7AM.
All three Library locations will not open until noon today.
