DES MOINES, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price released the following statement after the US House passed a disaster-relief bill that includes amendments from Representatives Cindy Axne, Abby Finkenauer, and Dave Loebsack to specifically help Iowa’s affected communities:
“Representatives Axne, Finkenauer, and Loebsack have fought tirelessly to secure this relief to help Iowa communities recover from the recent natural disasters. The historic flooding in Eastern and Western Iowa have been devastating, and Rep Axne’s amendment specifically for Iowa communities will go a long way towards helping families and towns recover and rebuild. “Our small towns and rural communities are part of what makes Iowa a great place to live and raise a family, and this critical recovery effort will help them grow and thrive. Watching Rep Finkenauer preside over the passage of Rep Axne's amendments was a happy reminder that we win elections when we lead with our values, and I'm proud of our Democratic Congressional delegation for their leadership to deliver this much needed relief for Iowans.”
