COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (December 21, 2023) — To commemorate Arrowhead Ranch’s ten-year partnership with race director Joe Moreno, director of Genesis’ Firecracker Run, Freedom Run, and The Quad Cities Marathon, a plaque will be presented on Friday, December 22, 2023, 11AM, at the Quad Cities Marathon headquarters at 733 15th Avenue, East Moline, Illinois. The plaque will be presented by Dr Luis Moreno, Chief Executive Officer of Arrowhead Youth and Family Services, and Nicholas Cunningham, Behavior Health Specialist, Arrowhead Youth and Family Services.

Nicholas Cunningham explains that as the year closes, Arrowhead is looking back on what has changed over the years and what has remained a constant. Cunningham states that one constant is our run program with Arrowhead and Mr Joe Moreno. “The run program enables the youth at Arrowhead to get off the Arrowhead grounds, help set up and tear down for the races, and run in the races and participate in the community,” Cunningham said.

Friday’s award commemorates how individuals and organizations are working together to help youth in our Quad City community. “The plaque is being awarded because Joe Moreno answers the call and has been consistent for a whole decade in supporting Arrowhead and providing a positive outlet for youth,” Cunningham continues. “Mr Moreno is always asking how to help, not only during the race months, but also throughout the year.”

Established in a rural setting south of Coal Valley in 1945 as the Rock Island County Boys Farm, the Arrowhead Youth and Family Services facility now has a capacity for 36 youth. Arrowhead continues its reputation for motivating the youth at the residential treatment facility, which has helped hundreds of teenage boys who struggle at home, in schools, and the community. Each day that youth are in treatment at Arrowhead, they receive positive therapeutic interventions that provide the tools and insight necessary to re-establish themselves within their families and the community long after they complete the program.

Arrowhead is a private, non-profit treatment facility serving at-risk youth aged 12-21. Arrowhead offers a home and training for youth needing help and is located at 12200 104th Street, Coal Valley, Illinois. Arrowhead’s website is arrowheadyouth.org. The media is invited to attend and cover this event.
