Adapted from the YA science-fantasy that has sold more than 10 million copies and was a 2018 Disney movie smash, Madeleine L'Engle's iconic A Winkle in Time enjoys a February 6 through 8 staging at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, the inspiration for this latest production by the student talents of Young Footliters Youth Theatre a work the National Education Association listed as one of its "Teachers' top 100 books for children."

With its stage adaptation by Morgan Gould, A Wrinkle in Time finds its young protagonist Meg and her baby brother Charles Wallace meeting three enchanted beings: Mrs. Whatsit, who can transform herself into a huge flying creature; Mrs. Who, a time traveler who offers pithy aphorisms in foreign languages; and Mrs. Which, who, as her name implies, knows all the right spells. The trio have learned the art of “tessering” – gliding through a fifth dimension to visit other worlds – which proves to be an ideal ability for the desperate kids' quest to find their father – a government physicist who mysteriously disappeared when he learned how to penetrate a time warp known as “the tesseract.” Aided by their pal Calvin O'Keefe, Meg and Charles Wallace travel through time and space, learning about life and love along the way, in this theatrical version of L'Engle's 1962 classic that won the esteemed Newbery Medal, Sequoyah Book Award, and Lewis Carroll Shelf Award.

Matt Falduto serves as A Wrinkle in Time's director, with additional creative team members of the Young Footliters Youth Theatre's latest including assistant director Caroline Sheerin, stage manager Linda Varvel, costume designer Emily Hannah, and sound designer Tim Moffitt. Meg is played by Lily Pettys Sheerin, with Charles Wallace and Calvin respectively played by Archer Alward and Max Stalder. Nearly two dozen student talents, meanwhile, complete the A Wrinkle in Time ensemble: Ela Akay; Eva Balmer; Harriet Beal-Gupta; Cora Beland; Aidan Bellizzi; Kalin Bozung; Peri Brooks; Lola Burke; Betsy Cantine; Mirabelle Clark; Stella Daly; Annalyn English; Chandler Felton; Harrison Frost; Leonora Hachtman; Ria Harris; Arlo Hughes; Reese Miner; Ellah Rees; Lydia Super; Quinn Varvel; and Sophia Williams.
