DIXON, IOWA (January 28, 2026) — On Saturday, February 7, 10:30AM-1PM, there will be a Winter Fun Day event held at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center in Dixon, Iowa.
Join Wapsi Naturalists to discover the wonders of winter at the Wapsi River Center. Please dress accordingly, waterproof boots are suggested.
Space is limited. Online registration is required.
There will be three concurrent sessions at this event, 10:30AM-12PM. The activities offered will be cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, and a Superb Owl program. We will discuss the many wonders of owls from their adaptations to their diets and you will be introduced to one or two of our Animal Ambassadors.
The Chili Cook-off will take place 12-1PM. Participants are invited to bring a crock pot of their best chili recipe. The winning participant will get their photo taken with the coveted chili cup!
If snow conditions do not allow winter activities, the activities will be a winter hike and the Superb Owl program.

The Wapsi River Environmental Education Center can be found six miles south of Wheatland or one mile northwest of Dixon, Iowa, by taking County Road Y4E, then turning north at 52nd Avenue and following the signs for about one mile.
