SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA (May 12, 2026) — The Scott County Park Pool opening will be delayed due to contractor staffing issues that have prevented the ongoing pool renovation project from being completed on time. The pool was originally scheduled to open at the end of May for the 2026 summer season.

However, Scott County Conservation was recently informed that the company will not be able to complete the project as planned, and the facility will not be ready for Memorial Day Weekend. At this point, the anticipated opening date is the first week of July, assuming construction progresses as expected, and no additional weather delays occur.

“The Scott County Park Pool is a valued recreational feature for many park visitors during the summer season, especially families looking for affordable outdoor recreation opportunities,” said Nathan Unsworth, Deputy Director for Scott County Conservation.

“We know this delay is frustrating for both the public and our seasonal staff who were preparing for the summer season, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work toward opening the facility later this summer.”

Swim Pass Information

Season swim passes purchased for the 2026 season can be used at either Scott County Park Pool or the West Lake Beach.

Individuals who purchased a swim pass specifically for use at the Scott County Park Pool and would like to request a refund may contact the Scott County Conservation office at (563) 328-3280. Passholders may also choose to keep their pass and request a prorated refund once the pool's opening date has been confirmed.

Swimming Lessons Canceled

Scott County Conservation will not offer swimming lessons during the 2026 summer season. Refunds for swimming lesson registrations will be issued in the coming days. Additional information regarding the refund process will be communicated directly to registered participants.

Updates regarding the project timeline and pool opening date will be shared through Scott County Conservation’s website and social-media channels as more information becomes available. While the pool remains closed, West Lake Beach at West Lake Park will open as scheduled for the summer season.
