DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 31, 2026) — The Davenport Community School District invites you as they dedicate the Walcott K-8 School football field in honor of Coach Dennis Johns, recognizing his lasting impact on generations of students, athletes, families, and the Walcott community. As part of the dedication, the district will unveil a new scoreboard honoring Coach Johns during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, September 10, 4:15PM.

Speakers will include Superintendent TJ Schneckloth, District Athletic Director Dave Shovlain, Walcott Principal Mike Garnica, and the family of Coach Dennis Johns.

The ribbon-cutting will take place prior to kick-off of the eighth-grade football game between the Walcott Panthers and Wood Vikings.

Former students, players, colleagues, friends, and community members are invited to attend as the district celebrates Coach Johns and his legacy in Walcott.
