Boasting more than 3.5 million career streams and supporting performances alongside Houndmouth, Wilderado, Briscoe, and Penelope Road, the independent country and blues-rock musicians of The Takes headline a September 22 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, the band's 2026 single "Uprooting Roses" hailed by Off the Record Press as "a beautifully soft declaration of love that leaves you breathlessly hopeful and dazed from affection."
As stated at TheTakes.band: "At the intersection of rock riffs and folk songwriting, you find The Takes, a new folk rock group hailing from Portland, Oregon. The band – composed of Sumner Rahr (guitar/vocals), Guido Rahr (guitar), and Phoebe Webb (bass)– weaves emotion and escapism through their songs, all while sticking to the roots of rock. On their 2024 EP Lay Hold, The Takes delve further into their country/blues rock tendencies, led by Sumner’s raw lead vocal and backdropped by a classic four-piece arrangement of guitar, drums and bass. Drawing from their early psychedelic influences and the band’s formation, their lyrical themes are organic: the changing of the leaves, flickering lights, relationships that drift apart. Shaped by the Pacific Northwest and its innate, unbound rock traditions, The Takes feel most at home in the outdoors, forging songs to soundtrack scenic road trips or nights spent around campfires."
The Lay Hold era “brought the band debut sets at Bonnaroo, BottleRock, Extra Innings Fest, and on two U.S. headline tours, including sold out dates in NYC (Mercury Lounge), Chicago, and Colorado Springs. Summer 2025 saw The Takes release the anthemic, summery single “Take My Time,” produced by Jon Gilbert (Mt. Joy, Flipturn, Adam Melchor). Meanwhile, the springtime release of The Takes' Uprooting Roses EP, produced with David Baron (The Lumineers, Michael Marcagi, Matt Maeson), "coincides with dates supporting The Runarounds across the U.S. and sets at Treefort Fest, Calgary Stampede, and more."
