MOLINE, ILLINOIS (September 9, 2026) — Cancer Support Community Iowa and NW Illinois at Gilda’s Club is hosting a full-day cancer survivorship retreat offered at NO COST on Friday, September 18, 9AM-4PM, at Gilda’s Club Moline located at 600 John Deere Road, Suite 101, Moline, Illinois, 61265.

It is common to feel many emotions once treatment ends. The post-treatment phase of survivorship requires many things — physical activity, nutrition, a healthy emotional life, and management of physical health. Cancer Transitions® is a free program designed to help cancer survivors transition from active treatment to post-treatment care.

About the Program: Cancer Transitions is aimed at survivors of any cancer diagnosis who have completed active treatment within the last 24 months, or are treating cancer as a chronic disease. This survivorship retreat will be a day full of informative sessions and activities focused on things individuals facing new survivorship may be experiencing. While each session focuses on a specific skill set and topic, critical components such as group support and reflective exercises are incorporated in every session. The program provides survivors with practical tools and resources to formulate a personal action plan for survivorship beyond their participation in Cancer Transitions.

Sessions include getting back to wellness, emotional health, eating well, staying active, and managing your medical story beyond cancer, with speakers coming in to present on topics.

Breakfast, lunch, and an exercise session are included

Since its inception, CSC’s Cancer Transitions program has demonstrated that both men and women who participate can experience a significant change in their lives, leading to:

  • Less worry about the negative impacts of cancer (47% reduced their worry)
  • More commitment to physical activity (57% increased their physical activity)
  • Better physical and social functioning (nearly all benefited from the program’s support)

This program is being offered in-person. Registration is REQUIRED. For more details and to register, please call CSCIAIL at 563-326-7504, e-mail gc@csciowaillinois.org, or visit GCQC.gnosishosting.net/Events/Info/Cancer_Transitions_Survivorship_Retreat_—_Moline-4063.
