With his songs, according to Little Village Magazine, "filled with a mix of goofy juvenilia, absurd sexual content, nerdy grammatical breakdowns and introspective lyrical detours," rapper and comedian Schaffer the Darklord headlines the October 10 "Horror Show 3" at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, the popular touring artist appearing alongside Coolzey and Baby Jayne.
As stated at MasqueradeAtlanta.com: "Schaffer the Darklord (or STD) is a New York City-based rapper, drummer and comedian with material best-suited for nerdy and/or hedonistic audiences. With manic energy fueling a cartoonishly commanding stage presence, STD skewers such topics as substance abuse, sexual compulsion, urban anxiety and obsessive cat-enthusiasm. Imagine a Frankenstein-esque monster assembled from equal parts Bill Hicks, Adam Yauch, Joey Ramone and Prince, stitched together inside the shell of a maniacal heavy metal ex-patriot.
"STD has released nine albums and is a founding member of the touring nerdcore hip-hop collective known as the Four-Eyed Horsemen, along with MC Lars, Mega Ran and MC Frontalot. When he’s not on the road, he produces the NYC burlesque/wrestling hybrid event called TasselMania. STD continues to write, record and perform with great frequency and has no intention of stopping until his rock and roll lifestyle destroys him."
At the artist's Raccoon Motel concert, Schaffer the Darklord will be joined by longtime friend Coolzey. As stated at FreeMusicArchive.org: "Coolzey stepped into the public eye around 2005 with a demo album and a series of exploratory DIY tours with rapper/comedian and friend Schaffer the Darklord. Interest spread quickly and Coolzey found himself touring alongside hip-hop legends from Brand Nubian and Jurassic 5 as well as punk rock heroes like Dead Milkmen. Coolzey’s first album The Honey was released in 2010 and second official full-length Hit Factory in 2013. In these albums as well as in a number of EPs, collaborations, and side projects, he finds his niche as a songwriter, navigating hip-hop, rock, punk and pop in the spirit of genre defying influences such as Ween, Beck, The Beastie Boys and Outkast."
