DES MOINES, IOWA (October 6, 2026) — The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) has received a national award from the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) for its home-ownership marketing, which uses real Iowa home-buyer stories to inspire prospective buyers and connect them with lenders and resources. The award was announced at NCSHA’s Annual Conference in Detroit in the Communications: Integrated Campaign category.

Through short videos and photos, Iowa homeowners share how they overcame obstacles, navigated the buying process, and used IFA mortgage and down-payment assistance programs to purchase their homes.

“Home-ownership can change a family’s future, and we are grateful to the Iowa homeowners who are willing to share what that journey has meant to them,” said IFA Director Debi Durham.

“Their stories help other Iowans see what is possible and build the confidence to take the next step toward homeownership.”

“Housing finance agencies across the country are leading the way in expanding home-ownership opportunities,” said Stockton Williams, Executive Director of NCSHA.

“IFA’s campaign is a compelling example of that leadership. It uses real home-buyer stories to build trust, inspire action, and connect aspiring buyers with the support they need to become home-owners.”

The stories appear across social media, digital advertising, and partner communications. They are part of a broader strategy that seamlessly connects aspiring buyers with participating IFA lenders and tracks their progress from initial interest to completed home purchases. This allows IFA to measure how effectively its outreach helps Iowans become home-owners.

IFA offers mortgage and down-payment assistance programs to eligible buyers through participating lenders, who help them understand program requirements and explore their financing options.
