Elanor Moss at the Raccoon Motel -- November 2.

Monday, November 2, 7 p.m.

Raccoon Motel, 315 East Second Street, Davenport IA

Traveling the country in support of her full-length album debut The Knife, the Needle, singer/songwriter and guitarist Elanor Moss makes her headlining debut at Davenport's Raccoon Motel on November 2, AllMusic raving that the musician's first LP is "a quietly stunning album throughout, and Moss delivers all the songs with a calm understanding that's as profound as her subject matter."

The artist, as stated at AllMusic.com, "beguiles with her tender, poetic acoustic songs about small moments and detailed emotions ranging from instances of perceived danger to unrequited affection. Moss grew up in a creative family in Lincolnshire, England, and her early homeschooling emphasized nature, reading, and music. She first began performing at church events, and she started writing her own songs and playing open mikes as a university student of Medieval Literature in York. Soon after she graduated, she met producer Oli Deakin, who offered to record her debut EP. The resulting Citrus was self-released in March 2022. Its hushed songs did feature some light electronics, but she opted for a full-fledged indie folk-rock sound for part of February 2023's Cosmic EP, which was also recorded with Deakin in New York. In the meantime, Moss toured with Christian Lee Hutson, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, and LYR and played one-off shows with the likes of Cassandra Jenkins and Sam Amidon.

"After drifting away from music for a while, Moss returned to playing the guitar and writing songs around the time she also re-entered therapy, and she used both to help process her past and how she interacts with love. With only a guitar and a four-track tape machine, she spent three years recording demos of the insightful, poetic songs that would make up her debut album. After making a very different version of the album in New York City, she retreated to a cabin in the Scottish Highlands for a quieter, more poignant approach to what would become The Knife, the Needle. With sparse chamber arrangements by Matthew Herd, who subtly fleshed out Moss' intimate guitar songs with instruments like violin, flugelhorn, and double bass, the album was produced, mixed, and mastered by Peter Miles (Torres, Dodie). It was released in August of 2026 on the venerable indie label Merge."

Elanor Moss plays her headlining engagement in Davenport on November 2 with an additional set by Wynn Walent, admission to the 7 p.m. concert is $15.88, and more information and tickets are available by visiting TheRaccoonMotel.com.
