Of course not but let's just say the next best thing to "The World's Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band" is coming to DeWitt. An exciting tribute show entitled "Satisfaction...an International Rolling Stones Show" that has been acclaimed as the most authentic cast and production show available honoring the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band, is coming to the Central Performing Arts Center in DeWitt, Iowa!

Please see the attached news release and photo announcing their upcoming performance.

Satisfaction will be performing at the Central Performing Arts Center on October 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm. In addition, we will also be offering a limited number of Dinner and Performance tickets.

Chris LeGrand, lead singer as Mick Jagger, is available for interviews Monday September 30th, Tuesday October 1st, and Wednesday October 2nd, from 8 am to 5 pm EST at 866-215-3811 or 318-518-7820

Nova Singers, under the direction of Dr. Laura Lane, presents two performances of We Sing Life! The first one will be on Saturday, October 12 at 7:30pm at First Congregational Church in Moline, and the second one on Sunday, October 13 at 4:00pm in Kresge Recital Hall at Knox College in Galesburg.

We Sing Life! is a unique and uplifting program celebrating the strength of the human spirit and our ability to triumph over the challenges of life. From the darkness of Barber's Twelfth Night and To Be on the Water to Randall Thompson's timeless Alleluia, the audience will hear the full range of human emotion.

Dr. Lane talks about the program: "We Sing Life! is unlike any other program I have undertaken. I wanted to wrestle with the idea of the universal human struggle with adversity. Each of us has known dark times. How do we survive those periods? How do we climb our way out of those dark times into a place of joy? I wanted to take the singers and the audience from the depths of despair to the heights of confidence, faith, happiness and serenity... Spirituals play a major role in this concert. We can all relate to the loneliness of Motherless Child and Hard Trials, and the joy and energy of Walk Together Children and Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel are perfect for the end of the concert."

For the first time ever, we have invited local artists to paint to a piece of music. Nicholas Digioia of Moline and Julie Swanson Davis of Galesburg will paint while the Singers perform Thompson's Alleluia. The audience will watch the creation of a work of art, inspired by the voices of Nova Singers!

In addition, students from Davenport Central High School will join the Singers for two selections, as a part of our educational outreach program, Project Sing!

Nova Singers, a professional vocal ensemble under the direction of Dr. Laura Lane, hopes to share our musical soul with you.  Nova Singers is known for bringing a wide variety of choral music to its audiences, and for the beauty and charm the singers impart to their music.

Tickets will be available at the door. Admission is $18 for adults and $15 for seniors. Students are admitted free of charge.  For information about group rates, tickets, recordings, or other Nova Singers' events, call 309-341-7038, or e-mail nova@knox.edu. By Bob Marovich for The Black Gospel Blog
The Promise is another outstanding contribution by East Moline, Illinois's Westbrook Singers.
The mixed gospel group, whose 2008 Live was equally impressive, blends traditional and contemporary gospel with a dash of classic church to offer what sounds like part Richard Smallwood Singers, part Winans, and part Earth, Wind & Fire.  It is a musical mélange that bespeaks of the group's deep roots in the COGIC church.
Perhaps the album's most striking ingredient is the singers' sumptuous harmonies.  They are tight, sometimes daredevil, rising and veering like a rollercoaster ride, but always compelling.  Accompanied by a jazzy acoustic piano, the group's arrangement of the hymn "It Is Well" is the album's best example of their harmonies.  The group also makes use of clever harmonic shifts on "I'll Take Jesus," along with some bluesy singing on the vamp.
There are several energetic mid-tempo songs on The Promise, notably "More than Life," "Solid Rock," and the title track.  The group also revisits the Hawkins' "What Is This" and provides a senior choir-esque version of the spiritual, "My Lord What A Morning," complete with delicate piano accompaniment.  Snippets of classicism can also be found in the upbeat evocation of the hereafter in "Face to Face."
The production quality helps a great deal.  All the songs were written, arranged, and produced by LySanias "DJ" Broyles Jr., the Westbrook Singers' music director.

Known as the Quad Cities' First Family of Gospel, the Westbrook Singers would be even better known if they lived in Atlanta, Chicago, Memphis, Nashville, or some other major music city.

Seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician John Mayer has announced additional dates for his current U.S. tour after a successful summer run, selling out in Los Angles, Denver, Houston, and Dallas among other territories. This is the singer's first tour following a three-year hiatus.

The new tour dates kick off on 11/19 in Moline, IL and run through 12/17 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, with Phillip Phillips ("Home," "Gone, Gone, Gone") continuing to support for most U.S. shows. Tickets go on sale for most cities on September 20and 21 at 10 a.m. in respective time zones. Citi cardmembers will have exclusive access to presale tickets with most dates going on sale September 17 at 10 a.m. EST. For full details please visit www.citiprivatepass.com and www.johnmayer.com .

Mayer's new album Paradise Valley debuted at #1 in 4 countries, and in the Top 10 in another 8 countries. The new album also marks his highest career chart entry in Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Italy, and Belgium. His previous albums-Room for Squares, Heavier Things, Continuum, live album Where the Light Is, Battle Studies and Born and Raised-have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide combined.

Mayer is using the U.S. tour to both raise funds for and heighten awareness of the effects of post- traumatic stress on our military veterans. One dollar from each tour ticket sold in the United States will go to the Northern California Institute for Research and Education. Mayer partnered with NCIRE two years ago to create programs that help veterans return to healthy and productive civilian lives.

He has been honored with seven Grammy Awards and an additional 11 nominations.  Mayer has also been included in Time Magazine's annual Time 100 list of the most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers, and twice been featured on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine's annual "Guitar" issue. Last year, he was honored in Washington, D.C. by the Recording Academy for his philanthropic work on behalf of both U.S. military veterans and young people interested in music.

Quad City Youth Symphony Orchestra alumna Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir recently made her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic where the LA Times praised her for her "emotional intensity." This Sunday, Thorsteinsdottir will be bringing this same emotional intensity back to the Quad Cities as she performs in Augustana College's Wallenberg Hall. The concert starts at 3:00 p.m. and features Rachmaninoff's Sonata for Piano and Cello, a world premiere from local composer William Campbell, and other selected works. Since the time her career burgeoned in the Quad City Youth Symphony Orchestra, Thorsteinsdottir has garnered numerous top prizes in international competitions, including the 2008 Naumburg Competition in New York and the Antonio Janigro Competition in Zagreb, Coatia. Please come welcome her back to the Quad Cities.

Thorsteinsdottir will be performing with pianist Benjamin Loeb, recently hired as Executive Director of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. This will be Loeb's first appearance on a QCSO concert. As a pianist, Benjamin Loeb has been praised by the Boston Globe: "[His] vigorous, cogent playing signaled the kind of equally weighted partnership, plus competition, plus mutual quest, etc. that [makes] this music live." His concerts have taken him around to the world to major venues and on radio and TV in New York City, San Francisco, Dallas, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Berlin, Seoul, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Panama City, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, and on tours across the United States. He has performed for community concerts and has been featured as Artist-in-Residence on NPR's Performance Today with violinist Livia Sohn.

William Campbell's Green Fire Variations for cello and piano is music about the energy within wild things. The title uses words borrowed from writer and conservationist Aldo Leopold: "We reached the old wolf in time to watch a fierce green fire dying in her eyes...I thought that because fewer wolves meant more deer, that no wolves would mean hunters' paradise. But after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view." (Sand County Almanac)

This first Signature Series concert will be in Wallenberg Hall at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15. Get your tickets today for this very exciting start to the 2013-14 Signature Series at the QCSO box office, by calling 563.322.QCSO (7276), or by clicking here.
