Brucemore's sophisticated and saucy nightclub event, Cabaret in the Courtyard, will showcase nationally-recognized talent from Eastern Iowa during two back-to-back weekends, August 8 - 10 and 15 - 17 at 7:30 p.m. Since 2003, the lovely ambience of the historic courtyard has been magically transformed into a cabaret club with tables, chairs, twinkling lights, and stars on the stage and in the sky.

The first weekend, August 8 - 10, features Sidney Wingfield, Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School alumnus and current resident of Sarasota, Florida. After attending the University of North Dakota on a basketball scholarship, Sid began a musical career that would eventually lead to a 2001 induction into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame. An introduction and opportunity to tour Europe with Luther Allison brought him in contact with other musical legends?Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, and B.B. King, to name a few. Beyond performing at Brucemore's Cabaret in the Courtyard in 2004, Sid has performed on European cruises, as well as at the Chicago Blues Festival, Mardi Gras, Milwaukee Summerfest, and more. While notorious for playing locally at the former Piano Lounge, Sid is world-renowned for his boogie-woogie piano solos and mood-inducing organ playing. Sid guarantees the party of the year by fulfilling spontaneous requests in all genres, leading sing-alongs of dueling piano favorites, and an evening of high-energy entertaining.

The second weekend, August 15 - 17, features Chase Garrett, Iowa City native and current resident of New York City. Chase began playing piano at age nine and by seventeen was performing professionally across the United States. In his travels, he has shared the stage with some of today's most influential blues, boogie woogie, and jazz pianists including Axel Zwingenberger, Michael Kaeshammer, and James Goodwin. He is as much of a performer as he is a preservationist, teacher, and producer. He has brought world-class pianists to the Englert Theatre in Iowa City for his annual "Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Stomp" and has taught at blues and swing festivals across the country. Voted the "Star of Tomorrow" in Brucemore's 2009 Cabaret in the Courtyard competition and "Best Local Act" by the Daily Iowan in 2011, audiences will hear a mixture of original and chart songs ranging in musical style from Chicago blues and boogie woogie to Kansas City Swing and New York Jazz.

Advance tickets are $20 per person and $18 per Brucemore member. All tickets are $25 at the gate (if available). Space is limited; please call (319) 362-7375 or visit www.brucemore.org to purchase tickets. Individuals reserving five or more advance tickets will have tables reserved under their name. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 7:00 p.m. On-site parking is available. Patrons are encouraged to bring their favorite beverages, but no food is allowed. Cabaret in the Courtyard is sponsored by Bankers Trust, Novak Design Group, and Corridor Business Journal.

Experience Brucemore, an unparalleled blend of tradition and culture, located at 2160 Linden Drive SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At the heart of the historic 26-acre estate stands a nineteenth-century mansion filled with the stories of three Cedar Rapids families.  Concerts, theater, programs, and tours enliven the site and celebrate the heritage of a community.  For more information, call (319) 362-7375 or visit www.brucemore.org.

Moline, IL. (July 15, 2013) ? There's a new light shining in America's Heartland! Trinity Broadcasting Network, the world's largest religious broadcaster and America's favorite faith-and-family channel, announced the launch of WMWC-TV Channel 53, a new full-power Christian television station covering the four Illinois and Iowa communities known as the Quad Cities: Moline and Rock Island, Illinois on the western banks of the Mississippi River, and Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa to the east.

"We're excited to welcome Channel 53 to TBN's ever-growing broadcast family," said TBN founder and President, Dr. Paul Crouch. "With the addition of WMWC to our nationwide lineup of full-power stations, over a half-million potential viewers will now have 24-hour access to the life-giving Christian programming that has been TBN's hallmark for the past forty years."

Station manager Tammy Robinson said that while presently TBN is the sole network broadcasting on WMWC, she expects that in the near future Channel 53 will begin multi-casting TBN's four other premier faith-and-family networks: the Church Channel, the JCTV youth network, TBN's Enlace Spanish-language affiliate, and the Smile of a Child children's channel.

Robinson noted that local Quad Cities residents are excited to have a Christian TV station located right in their community. "While TBN has been available in the area through cable and satellite service, there are many folks who either can't afford that service, or live in rural areas where it's not available," she said. "We're already getting letters and calls from some of these individuals and families, thanking us for making TBN available for free over the air."

The network is presently working on construction of a new studio facility for Channel 53 in Moline, Illinois, which will enhance the station's ability to produce programming like Joy in Our Town and a local version of TBN's signature music and ministry program Praise the Lord. "Local pastors have told me that there's been a shortage of good, solid family programming on TV in the area," said Robinson. "Many of our church leaders are really anticipating the positive spiritual impact TBN will have on these communities."

Tim Bowman, senior pastor of Calvary Church of the Quad Cities and president of the Quad Cities Association of Evangelicals, said he and other local clergy are looking forward to working closely with TBN and WMWC on special programming and community initiatives. "It's so encouraging as a pastor to know that Trinity Broadcasting Network sensed a leading of the Lord to purchase a television station and to build a studio in the Quad Cities area to do local programming," he said. "They have committed to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to help promote life-giving organizations within our community."

TBN Vice President Matthew Crouch noted that with the combination of cable and satellite coverage, along with its 37 full-power digital stations in communities around the nation, TBN now reaches 98 percent of America's homes with 24-hour faith-and-family TV. "When you add our iTBN.org online portal and our exclusive TBN viewing app available on iPhones, iPads, and smart phones, you begin to understand the meaning of our slogan 'TBN Everywhere' ? that in reality, there is literally nowhere in the inhabited world TBN does not reach."

He added that "this commitment to cover the earth with the hope of the Gospel has been TBN's motivation for the past forty years, and it's what continues to guide all we do."

Christian concert friends,

This is a pretty unique and fun opportunity so I wanted to share it with you... there are only 8 days left.

When this Des Moines, Iowa, girl was waitressing and working at the local mall, she was winning national and internation awards from professional music organizations for Christian singer and songwriter!

Years later she has won a lot more awards such as Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and more, while remaining an independent Christian Artist... with no record label, no professional management... just a singer writing songs, and traveling around the Midwest in her car, singing for churches. They fly her out to LA to present awards now to other songwriters, but she's still just a local Iowa girl trying to make a living... working day jobs, going to school, and trying to buy recording time.

She's been writing a Christmas album, trying to fund its recording.

Now you can help her make that a reality.

Meet Tammy Edwards:

Tammy Edwards "Mistletoe and Magic" Christmas CD

Dear Pastors and friends,

It has been my heart's desire to record a Christmas CD of   beautiful Christmas music for quite some time.  Life events prevented me from pursuing my music for several years as I returned to college to work on completing my Bachelors degree in Writing at Drake University.  I will be graduating from college next year. My goal is to raise 15,000.00 to finish the second half of the CD. I have completed the first five songs already. This money will include studio time/recording, paying producers and musicians, mixing, mastering, artwork and production of the CD.  I have created a Kickstarter account to try and raise funds. On this site I offer several different incentive packages including pre ordering the new "Mistletoe and Magic" CD  to coming to your home or church and giving you a concert. Would you consider joining with me in making this happen? I am so excited and ready to be back in church concert ministry.  The link to visit my site is:

Music lovers and blues enthusiasts alike will revel in the live performances on Brucemore's First Avenue lawn during the twentieth annual Bluesmore on Saturday, August 3 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Presented by Brucemore and the Linn County Blues Society, Bluesmore performers will include Lucky Peterson featuring Tamara Peterson, The Scott Holt Band, and LCBS All Stars.  The 2013 Bluesmore festival sponsor is Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust and media sponsors are The Gazette, Hoopla, and KCRG-TV9.  Home Town Restyling sponsors Tom Bruner and the Back Porch Band.

Lucky Peterson, a searing lead guitarist, first-rate vocalist, and talented organist, is the most dangerous triple threat working in the blues. Growing up in Buffalo, NY, with a father who owned one of the area's most renowned blues clubs, Peterson was exposed to music from a young age. At the age of 5, the R&B hit "1-2-3-4" on his first record resulted in television appearances on The Tonight Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, and What's My Line. As a teenager he attended Buffalo Academy of Performing Arts before paying dues in the bands of Etta James and Otis Rush. He has since performed with a long list of blues greats, including B.B. King and Albert Collins, and made his name through electrifying live performances.

Scott Holt, a six-string powerhouse and soulful storyteller, began his musical career when he was invited to join the band of blues legend Buddy Guy at age 19. Born in Tennessee and raised in Texas and Mississippi, Holt's music is as diversified as his roots. Holt caught rock 'n' roll fever when his parents took him to his first concert, Elvis Presley, while his teenage discovery of Jimmy Hendrix inspired his musical passion and artistic spirituality. In much of Holt's work, one can hear echoes of Hendrix's stinging vibrato, as well as sounds that are warm, human, and undisguised by technology. Holt has developed a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in the world.

LCBS All Stars features ten of Eastern Iowa's finest blues musicians on one stage for a special twentieth-anniversary Bluesmore celebration. The lineup includes Ron DeWitte, Eric Douglas, Craig Erickson, Tommy 'T-Bone' Giblin, BillyLee Janey, Bryce Janey, Dan 'DJ' Johnson, Denny Ketelsen, Skeeter Louis, and Dennis 'Daddy-O' McMurrin.

Advance Bluesmore tickets are $15 per adult and $13 per student or Brucemore/Linn County Blues Society member. All tickets are $20 at the gate - no discounts are available the day of the event. Children age 10 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.  Advance tickets must be purchased by August 2 and are available through Brucemore by calling (319) 362-7375, by visiting www.brucemore.org, or at the following outlets: Brewed Awakenings, Chappy's Safari Lounge, Checkers Tavern, Music Loft, Guitar Center, J.M. CHRIS TOMLIN is coming to Moline!! With special guest speaker Louie Giglio!  On Friday, October 25th to the iWireless Center at 7:30pm.
Tickets Available At:  iWireless Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster Outlets
Online: Ticketmaster.com
Phone: 800-745-3000

Under a vast, October sky, standing on stage before tens of thousands deep in the heart of Africa,
Chris Tomlin felt right at home. Even all those miles removed from the familiar, Tomlin detected
the steady, burning light that's universal and uniting. He's aware that no matter where in the
world, we all seek connection, to know that we're part of a grander narrative, a special story in the
exquisite design of creation.

For that reason Tomlin has dedicated his life career to a singular pursuit: to bring people closer to
God. Building a career is just fine, he says, but nothing compares to building bridges through
music that lead to hope, healing and higher ground.

"I have to put out songs that bridge the gap," Tomlin says, putting the emphasis on "have to" as
though his musical life depended on it. "I want to write songs that people sing to God. There's
nothing wrong with a three-minute pop song, but I want these songs to be special to the church.
There's more of a laser focus on that than ever."

Yet Tomlin also embodies something rare in popular music. On his latest disc, Burning Lights, he
not only hits the mark for deep substance, but also delivers lean, muscular songs that exert a
magnetic pop pull. True to its title, Burning Lights shines like a sonic supernova, yet never loses
its human scope and beating heart in the process.

That's because Tomlin?after ten No. 1 radio singles, a GRAMMY® Award and eight additional
nominations, 21 Dove Awards, one platinum album and four gold discs?touches the hearts of
listeners like no other. On the one hand, he's achieved global scope that moved TIME magazine to
proclaim him "likely the most often sung artist anywhere." It's estimated that more than 40
million men, women and children sing Chris Tomlin songs each week.

But for all those people it's still personal, as Tomlin gives voice and narrative to the most
elemental longings any believer can profess. You can hear it on "Awake My Soul," where Tomlin
pleas for breath-of-life deliverance: "Awake, awake, awake my soul/ God resurrect these bones/
From death to life, for You alone/ Awake my soul."

"This is record number 10 for me, and it's so exciting to feel this great about it," Tomlin says. "We
definitely did not hit cruise control. This record developed in a way that no other record has and I
feel it's the strongest thing I've ever put together."

Tomlin extends props to three talented producers?Jason Ingram (Brandon Heath, Britt Nicole,
Tenth Avenue North, Rebecca St. James, Point of Grace), Dan Muckala (Backstreet Boys, Amy
Grant, MercyMe) and Ed Cash (Kari Jobe, Laura Story, Bebo Norman)?along with a wide range
of musical guests, including Kari Jobe, Phil Wickham, Lecrae and Christy Nockels.

But to tell the story of Burning Lights properly, you have to start near the end. As Tomlin and
crew wound down the scheduled album sessions, they had every reason to believe they'd
accomplished their mission. Little did they know they'd get sent back to the well not once, not
twice, but three times in pursuit of the best material they could muster.

For Tomlin, it was the artistic equivalent of Naaman's bathing in the Jordan River seven times?a
test of patience and persistence that yielded startling results. Each time, he fashioned new tracks
that propelled Burning Lights to higher melodic and lyrical vistas. And to get there, Tomlin had
to empty himself and lean on God like never before as a recording artist.

To hear Tomlin tell it, his albums almost always start with a full complement of finished songs,
ready for him and his musicians to execute. "But this time, we met with the record company as we
were wrapping up and they said, 'We don't feel that it's quite finished yet. Maybe there's more.'
And that's a big hit to take when you've already put your heart on your sleeve."

Then came the majestic triumph of "Awake My Soul," a song that had been orphaned earlier in
the album sessions because it didn't match Tomlin's exacting standards. He tackled it with
renewed vigor and then called on his friend Lecrae, who telegraphs a spoken-word interlude from
Ezekiel 37 with a preacher's passion. Looking back, Tomlin's still amazed that this once-rejected
track now kicks off Burning Lights. "That's the result of being pushed by your team?people who
are not just yes people?and being asked to give your best."

But it also crated a dilemma. Tomlin's team loved the song so much, they wondered what might
happen if he tried to pull another rabbit out of the musical hat. The singer was flustered; he had a
few musical ideas, but nothing fully formed. So he texted Ed Cash, an ally from way back. As
providence would have it, Cash had just written a chorus and was about to contact Tomlin to see if
he wanted to help him finish the song.

That collaboration became "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)," a dynamic song that
celebrates God's constant companionship, set to a soundtrack framed by chiming guitars and a
crisp, military-style snare drum.

Relieved, Tomlin delivered the result to his label, and here's what happened: "They asked me, 'Do
you have anything else?' Now this was the third time. I thought, 'Who do you guys think you are?
I've worked my tail off!'"

But Tomlin bit his tongue, racked his brain and searched his heart. He sent in a demo that
updated the hymn "Crown Him With Many Crowns," expecting rejection. "But sure enough they
said, 'This is amazing, we have to put this on the record.'"

The recorded version teams Tomlin with Matt Maher, a Christian artist who's Catholic. As the
session started, they came to learn an amazing fact: "This song is a back and forth between the
Catholic and Protestant churches. Several verses were written in a Protestant way and some were
written a Catholic way. One side claimed it as theirs, and so did the other. We sat at the piano and
started laughing. We thought, 'How divine is that?'" A special spotlight vocal by Kari Jobe also
graces the track.

To be sure, the rest of Burning Lights lives up to the thrill of those three tracks, from the spirit of
surrender that raises "White Flag" to the tenderness that brings "Shepherd Boy" to life. It's also
the song that gives the album its moniker. "David was a shepherd boy right before he was king,
out in the field, keeping watch over his flock and singing a song of praise to God: 'I'm just a
shepherd boy, singing to a choir of burning light.' That sums up what I feel inside. I want to be
that. The people I sing to are the burning light, and I sing to them night after night."

"I love at the end of the day how we got all these left and right turns and tried to follow them,"
Tomlin says of the path that led to Burning Lights. "It was a lesson in humility. It was great to
take a step back, listen to what people were saying and go for it. When a song like 'Whom Shall I
Fear' comes along at the last minute, it's not only something you could hear on the radio, but at
any church. And that means more to me than platinum records, tours and sales."

He adds: "It's not just about good marketing. It's songs that become part of the fabric of the
culture. That's God's spirit, God's favor on a song. And to be part of that in some little way is so
special. It lasts so much longer than quick fame."

The Americanarama Festival featuring Bob Dylan & His Band, Wilco, My Morning Jacket and the Richard Thompson Electric Trio scheduled to play Dozer Park on July 11 has been moved to the Peoria Civic Center Arena.   Tickets purchased for the Dozer park show will be honored.  Tickets available through Ticketmaster.
