Pioneer Award 2008

The Quad City Heritage League is establishing an annual award to recognize an individual who has made contributions of lasting significance toward the promotion and preservation of the Quad Cities' rich heritage.

Through his/her activities, the nominee shall have contributed one or all of the following:

  • Increased awareness and appreciation for local or community history

  • Promoted interest in the history of the community and continues to generate enthusiasm

  • Provided long-term preservation of the community's history

  • Encouraged collaboration and support from a cross-section of individuals and groups in the community

Recognition: The award recipient will be recognized at the QCHL's annual meeting.

Selection Process: A committee of the Quad City Heritage League Board of Directors will review the submissions. The committee selects the finalists, and the Board of Directors will name the winner.

Members of the Board of Directors are not eligible for nomination during their terms on the board.

The deadline for nominations is September 15, 2008. Nominations must be submitted using the form from the QC Heritage League website: www.qcheritageleague.com and mailed to:

QCSO Derby Day moved

Davenport, IA - Volunteers for the Quad City Symphony's Derby Day, scheduled for this Saturday, May 3, at 4 PM has been relocated to the Rock Island Aresenal Golf Clubhouse due to flooding in Davenport. Partiers will need a photo ID to enter Arsenal Island, and can enter the Island over the Government Bridge in Davenport, the Rock Island Viaduct in Rock Island, or the Moline Bridge in Moline. The Quad City Arts' Festival of Trees will have a ONE DAY ONLY clearance sale of assorted holiday decor and selected items from the Festival of Trees Gift Shop. Items will be available for sale at up to 50% off original prices on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27th from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.The sale will take place in the Atrium of the south building of the RiverCenter.  All proceeds from the sale benefit Quad City Arts.
ImageOn Saturday, December 8th, 2007, the Augustana College Women's Track and Field Team will be holding a silent auction to fund a trip to Disney World to compete in a highly competitive track and field meet.
The Quad City Association of Evangelical's (QCAE) annual "Night of Thanksgiving" will be held this Thursday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. The service will be at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, 4700 - 53rd Street in Moline. The church is about 3 blocks due south of John Deere Road on 53rd Street. Admission is free. QCAE President Steve Stephens said, "This is a night where all Christians in the area are invited to come for a night dedicated to praising and thanking God for His goodness and many blessings. The service will blend great praise and worship music with prayers of thanksgiving. Pastors and leaders from area churches will lead us in prayers to remind us how God has been so good in every area of our lives."
