MOLINE, Ill. (October 16, 2014) - The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Todd Fiddler, the Mallards announced today.

Fiddler, 21, last season finished tied for second in the Western Hockey League in goals (50) and tied for sixth in points (98).  The 5' 11", 210-pound Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native split what was his final junior season between the Moose Jaw Warriors and Prince George Cougars before turning professional in time to score twice in eight ECHL games with the Colorado Eagles at the tail end of the campaign.

"In his last two years in major junior, Todd scored over 90 goals.  You don't do that just by being lucky," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.  "He's smart and he positions himself well.  With the right centerman he could be a very productive player for us."

In just over four seasons, Fiddler scored 127 goals and added 114 assists for 241 points in 280 career WHL games.  He enjoyed a breakout season with the Spokane Chiefs when he scored 42 goals and totaled 77 points in 70 games in 2012-13 after producing a dozen goals and 28 points in 73 games while playing for both the Chiefs and Prince Albert Raiders in 2011-12.  After breaking into the WHL by playing one game for the Medicine Hat Tigers in 2009-10, Fiddler the following year scored 23 times and totaled 38 points in 70 games with Prince Albert in his first full major junior season.

With Fiddler's arrival, the Mallards' roster now consists of 21 players- 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.  Fiddler joins fellow forwards Kevin Baker, Justin Fox, Evan Haney, Jeff Lee, Paxton Leroux, Joe Perry, Antti Pusa, Johnny Rogic, Kyle Thomas, Garrett Vermeersch and Ben Woodley; defensemen Jannik Chistensen, Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, Matt Duffy, Nick Grasso, Darren McMIllan, Mike Monfredo and Nicolas Rioux; and goaltenders Parker Milner and Evan Mosher.

The Mallards will open their first ECHL season on home ice Friday, October 24 at 7:05 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush.  Next Friday is also the season's first $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK.  Fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 beers from iWireless Center concession stands during the Mallards' match-up with the Rush.

Single game tickets for each of the Mallards 36 regular season home games- including the opener- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.  The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.  Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.

League hosting a reception honoring Jan Luton October 26th

The Quad City Women's Soccer Association will host a reception honoring Jan Luton, the league's first and only director, who is retiring after 70 seasons (2 seasons per year for 35 years)! Players, past and present, and friends of Jan are welcome to attend.

The reception will take place on October 26th 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Riverdale City Hall, located at 110 Manor Drive, Riverdale, Iowa (across from Alcoa behind the fire station). If you would like to stay for dinner, please bring a dish to share. Otherwise, stop by and have a piece of cake!

Jan and a group of ladies started the recreational soccer league for adult women league in 1980 because they loved the game of soccer. Jan has participated and run the league for each of those 70 seasons, maintaining teams from across the Quad Cities that have included Bettendorf, Davenport, Rock Island, Moline, Palmer Chiropractic, Scott Community College, Van's and the "Baby Momma Flyin' Monkeys", just to name a few. Adult women with various abilities are always welcome to join the league.

"Jan's love of the game and dedication to this league is amazing. I get asked why there isn't a Quad City Men's Soccer league and I tell people that its because they don't have a woman like Jan to run it", said Chris Cournoyer, a member of Jan's Bettendorf team.

Questions and more information, contact Chris Cournoyer at chris@ccx.net or 563-505-6703. For more information about our league, visit: www.qcwsa.com.

The Mallards' opposition has changed for seven additional already-scheduled games.  The Mallards will meet the Cincinnati Cyclones for the first time ever when the Cyclones visit the iWireless Center for games Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1.  The Mallards were originally schedule to meet the Brampton Beast on both of those dates.  The Mallards are now slated to visit Brampton on Friday, November 14 (a date on which they were originally due to play the Oilers in Tulsa) and Sunday November 16 (rather than the Allen Americans).   The Mallards will spend New Year's Eve in Evansville clashing with the IceMen instead of in Brampton taming the Beast.  The Mallards will host the Wichita Thunder on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7- dates on which the Flock was previously set to collide with the Americans.

As was announced by the ECHL last week, the Mallards will play in the Central Division of the Western Conference along with the other CHL transplants: Allen, Brampton, Missouri, Tulsa, Rapid City and Wichita.  The Mallards' match-ups with Cincinnati (October 31 and November 1), Fort Wayne (December 29) and Evansville (December 31) are the only inter-division games they will play this season.

The Mallards will meet the Missouri Mavericks 16 times- more often than they will see any other foe.  The Mallards will also play more than ten games against three other opponents: Brampton (14), Rapid City (13) and Wichita (12).  The Mallards will butt heads with Tulsa eight times and tussle with Allen on five occasions.

The Mallards will play 26 of their home games on fan friendly weekend dates.  The Flock will take the ice at the iWireless Center for ten Friday night games, 11 Saturday evening tilts, five Sunday contests.  Each of the Mallards' Sunday home games will face off at 4:05 p.m. while all other home games will start at 7:05 p.m.

The Mallards will enjoy their longest homestand of the season when they play eight consecutive games at the iWireless Center between March 1 and March 18.  The Mallards will kick off December on their longest road trip of the campaign.  They will play six straight away games between December 2 and December 13.

February will be the Mallards' busiest month.  Terry Ruskwoski's troops will play 14 times in just 28 days.

The Mallards will wrap up the regular season a week later originally scheduled when they welcome Tulsa to the Quad Cities on Saturday, April 11.

2014-15 Mallards season tickets are still on sale.  Ticket packages are available to meet almost any budget.  A limited edition season ticket holder Mallard jersey, 12 additional ticket vouchers per seat and free parking are among a host of exclusive benefits available to season ticket holders.  For more season ticket information fans can call the Mallards' business office at 309-277-1364.
