Jersey Boys finishes up this weekend at the Adler Theatre. If you haven't already, be sure to see for yourself why folks consider this to be the best new musical! On Thursday, best selling comedienne of all time, Chonda Pierce, takes the stage to share her stories of faith and personal experiences through humor and good fun.

The final Friday of April has arrived, and Bucktown Center for the Arts is ready to celebrate! Opening reception for the "Heart to Art" exhibit takes place Friday with events including blood pressure checks, chair massages, live music, and the Independent Film Cafe Premiere of "Buried Hearts." Start your Saturday morning with Yoga, and learn about essential oils, heart healthy diets, and women and heart disease throughout the day over at Bucktown.

It may be the final Friday of April, but it's also the first Fireworks Friday of baseball season! Helping With Humor

On Sunday, May 3rd, 2015, ComedySportz Quad Cities (CSzQC) is teaming up with magician David Casas to raise money for The Humility of Mary Shelter. The special showcase will take place at The Establishment. The doors open at 5pm and the performances begin at 6pm.  Tickets are available by calling 309-786-1111 or online at www.comedysportzqc.com

"Events like Helping With Humor allow us to continue assisting those most vulnerable in our community through the services at Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc." said Cindi Gramenz, Program Director of the shelter. "We value each community member that chooses to support us, and a great way to do that is a fun afternoon with our team, David Casas, and ComedySportz!"

Helping With Humor will feature an art exhibit from Humility of Mary Shelter participants.  At 6pm award-winning magician David Casas will perform followed by a fast paced ComedySportz match.  One hundred percent of the ticket proceeds will be going to the Humility of Mary Shelter to support their ongoing programs. There will be food and drinks available throughout the evening.

Humility of Mary Shelter provides temporary and permanent housing and services. They offer the opportunity to men and women experiencing homelessness to become more stable emotionally, mentally, and physically.  In the last year they provided 24,500 nights of shelter to 698 individuals, fifty percent of which had never been homeless before.  "Our goal is to raise enough money to fund the shelter for several nights, we want to raise our community up; bring them together for a good cause and a laugh," said Patrick Adamson, CSzQC owner and comedian.

The Establishment is a comedy venue located at 220 19th street Rock Island, IL.  The Establishment is the home of CSz Quad Cities and produces ComedySportz, the longest running show in the QC.

West Music Quad Cities and D'Addario Strings to Host Food Drive and Guitar Restring Event to Benefit Family Resources

Moline, IL - April 25, 2015 - West Music Quad Cities, in partnership with D'Addario Strings, will offer a free guitar restring and food drive donation event for six-string acoustic and electric guitars at its Moline, Illinois location on Saturday, April 25, 2015.  Participants only need to bring in four canned goods or non-perishable food items or a $5 donation.  Contributions will be donated to Family Resources.   This exciting event will take place during store hours 10am - 5pm on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at West Music Quad Cities, 4305 44th Avenue in Moline.   For more information on this event please contact Kyle Ware, West Music Combo Merchandise Manager, at kware@westmusic.com.

Restorative Justice Initiative Meeting

Join us in our first meeting at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Quad Cities May 7th at 6:30 pm!

Restorative Justice (RJ) is a theory of justice that emphasizes repairing the harm caused or revealed by criminal behavior, identifying disparities in the judicial system and supporting returning citizens back into the community.

After paying the price for their crime, many returning citizens go on to face job discrimination, loss of voting rights, and, very often, poverty.
Quad Cities Interfaith wants to break this crippling cycle. Join us for our first Restorative Justice issue session to discuss options of how to create quantitative change in our community on these issues.

Announcing The Salvation Army Davenport Corps Community Center's 5th Annual A Taste of the Caribbean Night

Davenport, IA - The Salvation Army Davenport Corps Community Center located at 3400 W. Central Park Avenue will be hosting the 5th Annual "A Taste of the Caribbean" Night on Thursday, April 23rd, 5:00pm through 7:00pm.

As the dinner's theme suggests, there will be authentic Jamaican food including Jerk Chicken/Barbeque Chicken, Salad, Festivals and Rice & Peas.  Delicious homemade desserts will be on sale.  Come enjoy the great food, fun, festivities and music!

There is a $6.00 charge per ticket at the door ($5.00 in advance); and a $2.00 charge for children 2-4 years old. The proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army's World Missions efforts around the world.

Weekend open house for 2015 basket exhibit titled:  "AMERICAN MADE BASKETS - MADE TO BE USED" will be at Philip Dickel Basket Museum Gallery on May 1,2,&3.  Friday and Saturday from 10 to 4 and Sunday from 12 to 4.  Refreshments will be served.

Twenty-four basket weavers from across the USA will have their basket on display from May 1, 2015 to September 30, 2015.

From the beginning of time baskets were made from materials found growing where people lived.  Baskets were a necessity, had a purpose and were made to be used.  This exhibit celebrates  baskets made today in the USA and their multi uses in everyday life.

Basket materials you will see include willow, pine needles, red and yellow cedar bark, white pine bark, sedge, reed and cane.  Basketry techniques, the coiled, plated, looped, frame and stake and strand, with a history from the past still are used today.

Now through May 21: The LeClaire Community Library was selected as one of the locations around the Quad Cities to host one of the cellos for the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra's 100 Years - 100 Cellos celebration. It's to celebrate the Symphony's 100th anniversary and world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma performing with the QCSO on May 14. Each cello is uniquely decorated by artists or organizations and will be displayed throughout the Quad Cities mid-April to mid-May. The Library Community Library is the only public place that will be hosting one of these cellos in the City of LeClaire.

First Presbyterian Church, LeClaire Wednesday evening program: Halftime! For kids, 5-11 years old. It's half way through the week - and it's a time of fun for the kids. We meet from 5:30-7pm, every Wednesday - there is school, through May 6. We serve dinner, play games, have a lesson and a craft. Have your child join us for a week or two to see what we are doing.
