Ken Urban's "Holliwell Bridge (Madison County)" in "Bicycle Worlds" at the Quad City Arts Center -- through August 7

With the latest Quad City Arts Center exhibition taking on a very specific theme, and a seasonally appropriate one at that, a pair of Midwestern artists currently have beautiful works displayed in Bicycle Worlds, the Rock Island venue treating patrons, through August 7, to bike photography by Ken Urban and bike illustrations by Jeff C. Williams.
At his KenUrbanPhotography.com site, the artist states: "Growing up on a Wisconsin dairy farm next to a rocky stream and surrounded by woods, I developed an early appreciation of the natural beauty around me. My interest in photography started in college after adopting my family's 1940's era AGFA rangefinder that my father purchased in post WWII Germany. I have upgraded my equipment through the years and currently shoot with a Nikon D850 DSLR.
"Since 1984, I have lived in the Quad Cities area... Davenport, Iowa and recently Durant, Iowa. I have participated in regional exhibitions and fine art fairs for over a decade. Images are now in many personal and corporate collections. Donations of artwork are frequently made to several organizations for use in fund raising auctions. Images are available as photocards, matted, loose prints, downloads, or framed. I do all of my own matting and framing using quality, acid-free, archival materials."
Jeff C. Williams' own biography at JessVeloArt states: "Rock musician. Fine artist. Cycling champion. If lifelong Springfield resident Jeff Williams does not qualify as a genuine renaissance man, he’ll have to do until one comes along. In addition, these disparate areas of interest have built on each other throughout a 30-year career, in often unexpected ways. Williams and his band, NIL8, have come into contact with an extended parade of leading national and international alternative music acts. More recently, a crossover between a love of both bicycling and painting uncovered an undreamed-of niche market, landing his canvases in numerous galleries as well as on the cover of a national magazine."
