Scotchy Rock 2017 oil on canvas by David Balluff

Local artist David Balluff will be exhibiting paintings and silkscreen prints at Rozz Tox in September, with an opening on September 8th, from 5-7pm. The theme for this show, Sideshow, is based in part on the show's subjects - mermaids, elephants and masked characters populate the exhibit. "I want to evoke the very surreal time we're living in — but in a very lighthearted way." Some of the silkscreen prints Balluff is exhibiting were created in August at the Bettendorf Public Library as part of their Creation Studio artist residency program. Among the work to be shown will be Long Story II, which is comprised of more than fifty paintings on 5" wood squares. The work is meant to be displayed in no particular configuration, allowing for the story itself to be changed repeatedly.  Rozz Tox is located at 2108 3rd Ave. in Rock Island. Rozztox.com
