The Black Box Theatre presents Come from Away, the Tony Award-winning musical that shares the true and extraordinary story of thousands of stranded airline passengers welcomed to Gander Newfoundland, a town of only 7,000 who pulled together as 38 planes were diverted to their small town.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (May 15, 2025) — The Black Box Theatre presents Fun Home, a musical based on the 2006 graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel. The adaptation features music by Jeanine Tesori with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. The story is told in vignettes as Bechdel looks back on her life including her discovery of her own sexuality, her relationship with her closeted gay father, and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (October 7, 2024) — The Black Box Theatre once again dips into the canon of writer Jeffrey Hatcher with their new production of Dial M for Murder. The theatre opened their doors with his “Murderers” and continues with his newest play, adapted from the classic thriller written by Frederick Knott. The play was also made into a brilliant Alfred Hitchcock film starring Grace Kelly and Ray Milland.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (August 6, 2024) — The Black Box Theatre located in the heart of downtown Moline will present the US premiere of The Truth by Florian Zeller and adapted by Christopher Hampton.  Described as “a pacy comedy that pictures marriage and male friendship as a maze of deception.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (June 13, 2024) — The Black Box Theatre will be holding auditions for the US premiere of The Truth, described as a “brilliantly cruel comedy of the hypocrices [sic] which hold society together.”

Written by Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton, the production will be presented August 16-31.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (May 8, 2024) The Black Box Theatre is happy to host Mockingbird on Main as they present To Kill a Mockingbird.

Almost a year after their home on Main Street shuttered in the unfortunate collapse of the Davenport Hotel building, The Mockingbird on Main flies once more to present Harper Lee's classic, To Kill a Mockingbird.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (April 19, 2024) — The Black Box Theatre will be holding auditions for the all-male acapella musical All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914. Music directing will be Ron May with direction and design by Lora Adams.

“We produced the piece in 2022 and so many people asked us to do it again,” said Adams. “It is a truly unique and beautiful story that stirs the soul,” added May.
