BRAMPTON, Ontario (December 27, 2013) - Gabriel Levesque and Mike Monfredo both provided a goal and an assist and Thomas Heemskerk made 28 saves as the Quad City Mallards defeated the host Brampton Beast 5-4 Friday night.

The Mallards turned the game in their favor with three unanswered second period goals. Levesque finished off a give-and-go with Matt Boyd from point-blank range to deadlock the contest at three at 3:12 of the second period. Monfredo gave the Mallards'their first lead by knocking in Jim McKenzie's centering feed at 9:20 of the second. Mike Hellyer's tip-in stretched the Mallard lead to 5-3 and chased Brampton starting goaltender Grant Rollheiser from the game at 15:18.

Hellyer's goal would stand up as the game winner after Scott Howes scored his second of the evening from the slot to cut the Mallard lead to 5-4 at 18:22 of the third period. Heemskerk and his teammates had to hang on for the win after the Beast pulled relief goalie Kristofer Westblom in favor an extra attacker and poured on the pressure late in regulation.

The Mallards were in need of a second period rally after the Beast emerged from a wild first period with a 3-2 lead. Brampton's Matt Caruana buried Andrew Fournier's centering pass to open the scoring at 6:29 of the first. The Beast lead doubled when Howes tipped the puck home just 57 seconds later.

The Mallards responded to the early Brampton onslaught by battling back to tie the game. Levesque sent Jeff Lee down the slot alone and Lee snapped in the first Mallard goal at 8:26 of the first- exactly one minute after the second Brampton goal. At 11:55 Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel's blue line blast evened the score at two, but Josh McQuade's wrist shot from the top of the left wing circle would put the Beast back on top at the 15:53 mark.

TULSA, Okla. (December 20, 2013) - Adam Pleskach's natural hat trick propelled the host Tulsa Oilers to a 5-2 win over the Quad City Mallards Friday night.

Pleskach snapped a 1-1 deadlock with a point blank power play goal at 6:50 of the second period. He then doubled the Tulsa advantage from the left wing circle with just 14 seconds left in the second. The Mallards cut the gap to 4-2 with Darren McMillan's one timer at 10:59 of the third period, but Michel Beausoleil would cap off the Oiler win with by scoring an empty net goal with just 56 seconds remaining.

The Oilers started the evening nearly as well as they finished it. Tulsa took a 1-0 lead just over seven minutes into the game when Kyle Bochek pounced on the rebound after Mallard goaltender Ty Rimmer stopped Bochek's initial bid. Gabriel Levesque tied the score just a minute and sixteen seconds later by cutting across the goalmouth to bury a feed from Gergo Nagy, but the Mallards would have little cheer about thereafter.

MOLINE, Ill. (December 11, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards have waived goaltender Nick Niedert, the Mallards announced today.

Niedert, who was signed last Tuesday, served as a back up in the Mallards' three games last weekend against the Brampton Beast but did not see any game action during his stint in the Quad Cities. Niedert departs after the return of netminder Ty Rimmer, who has rejoined the Mallards after being recalled to the American Hockey League's Oklahoma City Barons last week.

The Mallards return to action Friday night against the Rush in Rapid City. The Mallards next play at home Saturday, December 21 at 7:05 p.m. against the St. Charles Chill. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for that game will receive free Mallards knit caps courtesy of CBS 4 and Bierstube.

Tickets for the December 21 tilt and all Mallards regular season home games can be purchased at the iWireless Center ticket office, Ticketmaster outlets, through ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.  The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
MOLINE, Ill. (December 10, 2013) - Quad City Mallards players will join the Salvation Army's 2013 Red Kettle Campaign by volunteering as bell ringers tomorrow outside the West Locust Street Walgreen's in Davenport, the Mallards announced today.

Mallards players will ring bells to solicit donations for the annual kettle drive from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. Walgreen's is located at 1600 West Locust.

"We are very happy to have the chance to take part in a campaign that has such a positive impact on so many during the holiday season," said Mallards president Bob McNamara. "The Salvation Army plays such a vital role in assisting those in need in the Quad Cities area and we are glad to have the opportunity to work together with them."

The Salvation Army Red Kettles have been an American tradition since 1891, helping raise financial support for critical Salvation Army programs and services year round. Over the years, the Red Kettle Campaign has grown into one of the most recognizable and important charitable campaigns in the United States - providing toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round.
