QUACK TRACKS
Last Weekend
The Mallards earned five of a possible six points by going 2-0-1 in three home games in 48 hours against the Brampton Beast last weekend. The Mallards rolled to a 6-1 win last Friday before squandering a 3-1 lead and falling 4-3 in overtime one night later. Yesterday it was the Mallards who came from behind, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to take the rubber match 3-2.

Streaking
While last Saturday's overtime setback did halt the Mallards' three-game winning streak, the Mallards are now unbeaten in regulation in their last nine games (5-0-4). The Mallards have lost just once in regulation in their last 12 games (7-1-4).

Deadlock
With yesterday's win the Mallards moved into a tie for sixth place with the Beast. The Mallards find themselves tied for sixth despite boasting the league's third best winning percentage (.676) because they have played fewer games (17) than any other CHL club.

Home Sweet Home
The Mallards yesterday finished a five-game home stand 4-0-1. While last Saturday's sudden death defeat ended the Mallards' five game home winning streak, the Mallards remain unbeaten in regulation in their last seven home tilts (6-0-1).

On the Road
The Mallards play their next four games- and eight of their next nine- on the road. Each of the Mallards' last four road games and five of their first six away contests went to the shootout. The Mallards won just one of those shootouts. They have gone 1-1-4 on the road overall.

Goals, Goals, Goals
The Mallards remain the league leaders in goals per game (4.1). Yesterday the Mallards for the first time this season won in regulation while scoring fewer than four goals.

Late Show
Yesterday, the Mallards got a game winning goal in the final minute of regulation- from Gergo Nagy with 27 seconds remaining- for the second time this season. Mike Hellyer scored with 55 seconds left in the Mallards' November 9 game against Denver to give the Mallards a 4-3 win over the Cutthroats.

Shorty
Yesterday's game winner was also Nagy's second shorthanded goal of the season and the Mallards' fourth man-down goal in just their last seven games. Three of those four shorthanded goals have either tied or won the game for the Mallards in the third period..

Streaking, Take 2
Jim McKenzie is on a five-game point-scoring streak (4-3-7) while Vladimir Nikiforov yesterday saw his five-game point streak (1-5-6) come to an end. Nagy has recorded seven points (three goals and four assists) in just his last four games.

OK in OKC
Goaltender Ty Rimmer was recalled from the Mallards by the American Hockey League's Oklahoma City Blazers last Monday and last weekend went 1-0-1 in three AHL games with a 2.65 goals against average and .930 save percentage.

Special Teams
The Mallards have dipped to eighth in the CHL in power play efficiency (15.2 percent) after going 1-for-12 on the power play last weekend and 1-for-18 over their last three-plus games. Duffy's power play goal in the second period of yesterday's game ended an 0-for-16 man advantage drought for the Mallards. The Mallards rank fifth in penalty killing (83.1 percent) and are now tied for second in shorthanded goals (4).

Head to Head
Friday's game is the second of six this season between the Mallards and Rush. The Mallards dropped their opener to Rapid City 6-4 on home ice on October 19. All-time the Mallards have gone 9-7-1 against the Rush and have posted a record of 4-3-0 in Rapid City. QUACK TRACKS
Happy Holiday
The Mallards went 2-0-1 in three Thanksgiving week games, rebounding with back-to-back home victories over the weekend after suffering a shootout loss last Wednesday at Missouri.

Prior to last Saturday, the Mallards last scored nine goals in one game and seven in one period in a 9-6 defeat of the Bloomington Blaze on February 8 of last season.

Streaking
The Mallards are unbeaten in regulation in their last six games (3-0-3). and have lost just once in regulation in their last nine games (5-1-3).

416
With last Saturday's victory, Mallards coach Terry Ruskowski moved past Chris Stewart into third place all-time with 416 career Central Hockey League wins. He previously piloting the Laredo Bucks- with whom he twice won the President's Cup title- and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in the CHL.

Home Sweet Home

Shootout
The Mallards halted a team record-setting streak of four consecutive shootouts when they defeated St. Charles in regulation last Friday. The Mallards went 1-3 in those four shootouts, losing the last three during that stretch.

On the Road
With last Wednesday's shootout loss in Missouri, the Mallards' finished a run of five straight road games 1-1-3.

Comeback Kids

Goals, Goals, Goals
Last Saturday's nine goal outburst capped off a week that saw the Mallards total 17 goals over three games to retake the league lead in goals per game (4.1).

Catch-Up
The Mallards have played fewer games (14) than any other CHL club. The league-leading Rapid City Rush and second place Mavericks have played the next fewest (16) while the Oilers have already played a league high 21 games. Because they have played less hockey than any other club, the Mallards find themselves in seventh place despite boasting the fourth best winning percentage (.643) in the CHL.

Rookie Roll
By collecting four assists last Saturday, rookie Thomas Frazee set a team season high for assists in one game and matched the Mallard single game season high for points. Frazee notched at least two points in each of the Mallards' three games last week and totaled nine points (four goals and five assists) while posting a plus/minus rating of +8 over that stretch . Frazee, who is also in the midst of a five game point scoring streak (4-7-11), rang up 17 points (five goals and 12 assists) over 11 games in the month of November.

The 2011-12 campaign was especially successful for Rimmer, who earned WHL First Team All-Star honors after leading the league in goals against average (2.43) and save percentage (.922), finishing tied for first in shutouts (5) and finishing tied for eighth in wins while going 31-12-1 in 46 games for the Tri-City Americans.  His standout efforts helped propel the Americans to the United States Division title.

Over three-plus Western League seasons- during which he also played for the Brandon Wheat Kings and Prince George Cougars in addition to the Americans and Hurricanes- Rimmer went 74-65-14 in 159 games and turned in a 3.01 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and ten shutouts.  Before becoming a WHL workhorse, Rimmer spent parts of two seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the St. Albert Steel and Bonnyville Pontiacs.

MOLINE, Ill. (December 2, 2013) - Quad City Mallards forward Jeff Lee has been named Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week, the Mallards announced today in conjunction with the CHL.

Lee scored four goals and totaled seven points while posting a plus/minus rating of +8 as the Mallards went 2-0-1 in three games last week. Lee scored a game tying shorthanded goal with 1:16 left in regulation and added an assist in the Mallards' 5-4 shootout loss to the Mavericks in Missouri last Wednesday. Last Friday Lee scored a tie-breaking third period goal and picked up another assist in the Mallards' 4-3 win over the St. Charles Chill. One night later Lee rang up two goals and an assist and matched a league season high by turning in a plus/minus rating of +5 in the Mallards' 9-3 thrashing of the Tulsa Oilers.

On the season, the 25-year old Lee has scored eight goals and produced 13 points in 14 games. The 6' 2", 209-pound Lee is the first Mallard to earn a league-wide honor this year.

Lee broke into professional hockey last season with the Rapid City Rush, for whom he scored seven goals and notched 21 points in 55 games. Lee joined the Rush after spending three successful years at the University of New Brunswick. He helped UNB to the 2011 University Cup national title and three straight Atlantic University Sport conference crowns while recording 11 goals and 28 points in 53 career games as a Varsity Red.

Lee arrived in New Brunswick following a season-plus with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the major junior Western Hockey League.  In total, he produced 29 goals and 81 points in 119 Western Hockey League games.  After scoring 22 times and notching 62 points in 72 games for the Oil Kings in 2008-09, Lee got his first taste of pro hockey when he played two games for the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons in the spring of 2009.

His time at UNB was not Lee's first stint in the intercollegiate ranks.  He played for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 2006-07 and at the start of the 2007-08 season after two years in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Drayton Valley Thunder and Sherwood Park Crusaders.

MOLINE, Ill. (November 29, 2013) - Jeff Lee and Thomas Frazee- who also picked up an assist apiece- scored 18 seconds apart late in the third perIod to propel the host Quad City Mallards to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the St. Charles Chill Friday night.

After the Mallards' Jim McKenzie knotted the score at two from point blank range at 10:21 of the third period, Lee broke the deadlock at 16:48 with a backhander from the slot. Lee's goal set the stage for Frazee to score what proved to be the game winner from the left wing circle at 17:06. Frazee's strike proved especially vital just 12 seconds later when the Chill's Steve Makway scored his second goal of the night from the the top of the left wing circle.

The Mallards found themselves in need of a third period comeback after Makway snapped a 1-1 tie by rifling in a rebound from the slot at 13:25 of the second period.

It was the Mallards who had first grabbed the lead when Mike Stinziani one-timed Mike Hellyer's cross-ice feed home from the right wing circle at 15:16 of the first period. That advantage lasted less than three minutes before Kyle O'Kane buried a rebound to even the score at 18:34 of the first.

The Mallards return to action at home tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. The Teddy Bear Toss will make its annual return tomorrow night. QUACK TRACKS
Shootout Out West
The Mallards earned two points for a pair of 3-2 shootout losses last weekend in Arizona. The Mallards came from behind to tie both of those games in the third period. Saturday night's game ended controversially as the Mallards argued that Gabriel Levesque scored what should have been the tying goal in the final round of the shootout but it was ruled that Sundogs goaltender Chris Rawlings gloved Levesque's bid just before it crossed the goal line.

Trifecta
Each of the Mallards' last three games has gone to the shootout. The Mallards have gone 1-2 during that stretch and are 1-3 in shootouts on the season. This marks the first time the Mallards have reached the shootout in three consecutive games since going to successive shootouts on January 8, January 10 and January 15, 2010 while in the International Hockey League.

Upswing
The Mallards have suffered just one regulation loss in their last six games, a stretch during which they have gone 3-1-2.

Goals, Goals, Goals
The Mallards have scored a total of six regulation goals in their last four games after scoring at least four goals in six of their first seven games. The Mallards, who until last weekend led the league in goals per game, now rank second in that category (3.7), just behind Rapid City (3.8).

Stingy
The Mallards have allowed just two (non-shootout) goals in each of their last three games and have given up three goals or fewer in each of their last six games.

Catch-Up
The Mallards have played fewer games (11) than any other CHL club. The league-leading Rush have played the next fewest (13) while the Tulsa Oilers, who the Mallards on Saturday night will meet for the first time this season, have already played a league high 18 games.

Rookie Roll
Rookie Thomas Frazee has recorded eight points (two goals and six assists) in his last eight games.

Between The Pipes
Thomas Heemskerk remains unbeaten in regulation (2-0-1) after making 29 saves in last Friday's shootout setback. That game was Heemskerk's first with the Mallards since returning from a brief stint with the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild. Ty Rimmer made 31 saves one night later while making his fourth start in the Mallards' last five games, a stretch during which he has gone 2-1-1 with a 2.40 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

Leaders
Mike Monfredo is tied for sixth among CHL defensemen in assists (7)...Thomas Frazee ranks fifth among rookies in assists and is tied for seventh seventh among rookies in points (8).

Milestones
Gabriel Levesque played his one hundredth career game last Friday at Arizona...Terry Ruskowski has won 414 games as a CHL coach and is one win away from tying Chris Stewart for third place all-time among CHL coaches in victories (415)...Matt Duffy has notched 99 career points...Darren McMillan has collected 95 career CHL assists

Special Teams
The Mallards rank sixth in the CHL in power play efficiency (16.4 percent) and lead the league in power plays per game (6.1). The Mallards, who have successfully completed 14 consecutive penalty kills, rank third in penalty killing (84.2 percent). The Mallards last Friday gave up a shorthanded goal for the second time this season; last Saturday Thomas Frazee scored the Mallards' first shorthanded goal of the year.

Head to Head
This Wednesday's game is the first of ten meetings this season between the Mallards and Mavericks. The Mallards last season went 7-6-0 overall and 4-3-0 on the road against Missouri. All-time the Mallards have gone 14-12-2 against the Mavericks and have posted a 9-6-0 record in Independence...The Mallards have gone 2-0-1 against the expansion Chill this season and have won each of the clubs' prior two meetings at the iWireless Center. Mikes Hellyer (four goals and three assists) and Stinziani (three goals and four assists) piled up seven points apiece over the first three games between the two clubs...The Mallards and Oilers will open their four-game season series this Saturday. The Mallards last season went 4-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 at home against Tulsa. All-time the Mallards have gone 6-5-0 against the Oilers overall and 4-3-0 at home.
