Skyler Smutek Released Ahead of Kristaps Nimanis’ Activation

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 13, 2019) — The Quad City Storm released defenseman Skyler Smutek today ahead of Kristaps Nimanis’ activation from the injured reserve.

Nimanis will take the ice on Sunday in Fayetteville for the first time since being injured in the second game of the season.

Storm Schedule [Hockey]

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 11, 2019) — This week the Storm will be practicing at The River's Edge Tuesday from 12-1PM and Wednesday from 9:30AM-10:30AM.  

They will be hitting the road Thursday to take on the Fayetteville Marksmen Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Dan Pszenyczny Added As Cody Walsh Moves To IR

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 6, 2019) — The Quad City Storm has signed defenseman Dan Pszenyczny ahead of this weekend’s series with the Evansville Thunderbolts. Pszenyczny is a 12th year pro who last played in FHL Dayton during the 2014-2015 season. Dan is the brother of Storm head coach Dave Pszenyczny.

The Storm released forward Brandon Wahlin and defenseman Alex Basey on Wednesday and defenseman Cody Walsh was moved to the 30-day injured reserve.

Bryan Hovanec, Dominick Horvath Join Storm This Weekend

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 1, 2019) — The Quad City Storm has added a defenseman and forward to the roster who have recently completed their college playing careers.

Bryan Hovanec is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and played collegiately at Lebanon Valley College. In three seasons with the Dutchmen, Hovanec recorded 37 goals and 30 assists. He has played in one professional game with FHL Carolina and recorded an assist.

Alex Basey Signed To 3-Game Tryout Contract

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 26, 2019) — Defenseman Alex Basey has been added to the Quad City Storm roster on a three-game tryout contract. Basey is a native of Oshawa, Ontario and is in his second year of professional hockey. He has spent the majority of both seasons with FHL Danville.

Brandon Wahlin Claimed Off Waivers

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 20, 2019) — The Quad City Storm has claimed forward Brandon Wahlin off of waivers ahead of this weekend’s three-game road trip versus Knoxville and Evansville.

Wahlin played in 24 games this season with the Knoxville Ice Bears and recorded four goals and nine assists after beginning the year in FHL Watertown. He is a third-year pro and a native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
